A loaded Trailer with broken air bag would ride like a bucking horse, as the Air-Bags act like stabilizers. If one or more are broken the trailer can respond violently at highway speeds over bumps.

It is not about the freight on board,

I have have stranger things happen with an empty....improper brake adjustment, trailer tires lock up every time the brakes are applied. kinda scary cause the trailer skidding when it's not suppose to. In that case loaded was better but not perfect.

Fifth wheel adjustment as stated earlier Improper ride height adjustment or bad levelling valve also could be a cab airbag leveller adjusted wrong ... Being new it will probably be a simple fix if they troubleshoot properly.... On my 2015 t680 suspension levelling valve went bad after 3 months it was slow to drop and lots of kickback from trailer

A complete vehicle inspection is needed.....Find and fix the problem means getting under the tractor and checking everything for damage, leaks, wear and tear ---- It doesn't matter if the truck has 500 miles or 500, 000 miles. The Driver has to get his hands dirty.

Inspect that vehicle as Dusty said.

Im inclined to think loose 5th wheel, but... the rig seems too new for that.

SOME thing is not right in the suspension or the 5th wheel. Nothing should be hammering you twice.

I wonder if the old peg legs inside the bags that drop down when you drop trailers fell down somewhere in a bag or several.

Wouldn't be surprised if Volvo didn't adjust the fifth wheel jaws right...!

Op, what fifth wheel do you have?

Volvo Makes Jost Fifth Wheels Standard
    February 14, 2013 - Products

    Volvo Trucks

Volvo Trucks will now equip fifth wheel coupling devices from Jost International as standard equipment on Volvo VN and VHD tractors manufactured at its Dublin, Va. plant., which assembles all Volvo trucks sold in North America.

“Introduction of this new standard fifth wheel represents our ongoing focus on safety, driver productivity and customer value,” said Frank Bio, Volvo Trucks product manager – trucks. “We appreciate Jost's broad product range and availability of information to help specify a fifth wheel based on vehicle application.”

With only four moving parts, Jost fifth wheels are one of the simplest and safest fifth wheel coupling devices available, according to the company.

I 'm going out on a limb and say the driver may not have a Fifth Wheel Tester. So what else is there?

Lock the Brakes on the trailer and have someone look for slack as the Driver tugs on the Kingpin using only the force of the tractor. Using a flash light the driver must always check to see if the Jaws are in the locked position....even after tugging on the kingpin. ( yeah I know .....)
