The best thing you can do for yourself is to take it a day at a time. They are there to help you be successful not fail you. Think about it this way the instructors take pride in trying to teach inexperienced drivers and every driver including the instructors started with no experience. Did I mention Jim Palmer is the clear choice in my mind. Good luck.

Actually I have heard that NOT knowing how to drive a stick is an advantage. Because shifting in a big rig versus a 4 wheeler is a HUGE Difference...I had to RE-LEARN how to drive

Don't worry; you will be ok. Their cdl school is to teach people how to drive trucks that have never drivers big trucks. You're the student and they will teach you what you need to know to work for them.

I don't know about all that. A working knowledge of shifting when the engine needs to be shifted is definitely an advantage, even if a truck does have more gears and a different pattern. If a person has never had to listen to an engine and know when to give it a gear, they'll be completely starting from scratch, having to stare at the tach, and probably do some company-provided math in their head, just to know when to up/down shift. That, along with everything else you have to watch, could be a little overwhelming.

Now, I am certainly not saying it can't be done. Folks do it all the time and become terrific drivers, and I hope the OP becomes one of them.

But to say it's easier if you've never shifted anything before is kidding yourself, in my humble opinion.
