Jess, y'all going to one with a 70" sleeper instead of the 63 in the pic? No wonder room is tight.

the reason the volvos have electral issues is that the motors are not ment to be turned down espicially the volvo motore it creates a strain on the electral system and stuff starts shorting out now the volvos with the cummings motors do better because cummings has designed the pcm's to reconise the turn down in power and not short out. the electrical prob in all of the volvos seem to be the harness that feeds the power windows. theres a design problem there i had multiple problems with the right side window going up and down on its own. and i love my freightshaker columbia its got plenty of room the detroit deisel has plenty of power and the only time it laid down on me was when the oil pan gasket started leaking other than that i an well pleased with it . now the freightliner FLD i had was a pile of crap.

I agree with ya there. I love my freightshaker century class I drive, especially since the governor isn't working and the qualcomm is only recording I'm doing 65, CAT C15 motor kicks ###. I just wish I could take this truck out west where the speedlimit is 75 and let 'er rip

Nope 63" sleeper and it sucks!!! Boss says drivers are home to often to pay extra for a bigger sleeper, drivers used to be home a couple of times a week, not so much now.

Company runs 7 western, so we are usually back through the yard every week but just for a quick break!

Yuck jess. I couldn't do a smaller sleeper. Heck, I want one that is at least twice what we have now! Of course I keep hoping if we get things like we want he will let me get another chihuahua. I miss poo-poo.

And, sorry guys, but that detroit can't pull worth jack. We can be fully loaded and outpull an empty skateboard freightshaker. You can have your detroit engines, this girl won't have one. On top of that, the fact we were broke down and didn't have a detroit was a shock to the tow driver.

it's not the motor that doe's the pulling its all in the rear gear ratio. a motor like a cat that has a lot of torqe can be out pulled by a cummings. detroit. paccar that has the right gear ratio for what it's pulling. a lot of trucks come with a standard ratio just like your car does but when you change that gear that's where the magic begins....

Wow now.. my Detroit pulls just fine.. I have had 80k before and never dropped below 63 on these hills over in pa.. especially on 309s right outside of hazleton.. that's a road there.. I don't know what you have but I guess it has a Cummings in it.. and to be honest.. I thought they were lacking in power.. but central has them set up horrible.. but our rear gears are lower so our power is put to better use.

Central and many other Carriers were using 3.55 rears and turning the engines down.
If you have that same engine set properly with a 3.7 rear it will pull well.
But will not go as fast. But with fuel as it is now and getting worse you do not want to go over 70 anyway.
And a 3.7 will still hit 75+ before you hit the rev limiter.
Had 3.25 or so rears in an international for a while. 500 cat. It would pull ok, but only if I was at 70 at the base of the hill.
But it would go well over 100 mph.

Well we finally got the newer piece of crap truck yesterday, and left the yard almost gross, get to Jordan Valley OR and the heater seems to be blowing cold after the shop put a new blower in it, thought one of the mechanics had fubared it and didn't think much more of it until a mile or so down the road when I started smelling a burning coolant smell :biggrin_2552: JJ pulled over and checked the oil first, then he checked the coolant it was empty (Dark and snowing) so he gets the spare coolant out and starts pouring it in and he hears somethin dripping the main hose on the front of the truck had blown off, so he thinks yep easy fix will just put it back on and tighten the clamp buttttttttttt the clamp was broken, so here we are 10 miles from jordan valley with no cell signal and what we thought was a simple fix, finally get hold of Greg our night guy and he sends a mechanic out with a new clamp and more coolant, fix the hose and fill up the coolant and he says drive up the hill and I will follow ya...wellllllll the head was fubared so we got to spend half the night there waiting on someone to come and get us near froze, load was repowered and we got back to ID around 2:30am and to bed around 5:00am, moved into another truck today lets hope it works and we don't have a problem.

The other truck has now done 3 heads, last one was replaced 3 weeks ago and the truck only has 400,000 on it.

Our night then got worse, went to wally world to get some creamer and a new headlight for JJ's pick up and some Ahole cop pulled us over because of the head light told him we were going to Wally world to buy a new one and he was smart but didn't give a us a ticket but then asked to see drivers licence, rego and insurance, I had taken the insurance card outta the pick-up so JJ could call Geico so the Pig gave JJ a ticket for not having proof of insurance even though I told him I could pull it up on my laptop!!:biggrin_25516:
