i heard on the radio about some dude getting a ticket in new york for his apu. didn't get all the details though. but it was supposed to certified california clean idle.

starting to think twice about that generator now.

might have to go with plan B. 20 batteries on the truck. with a small generator and battery charger as a back up jump start. :biggrin_25519:

we need bigger selection of smileys.

i'm all for clean air and being green and such. and most importantly, saving money on fuel costs when i get my own rig.

Ya know, we sometimes get so wrapped up in our own little lives that we forget about other people or the interactions that we can have with them. Also can forget about the "little" things that can bring joy into our's or others lives. Had something happen to me today to remind me.

Was heading east today on I 80 in IL. A little p/u comes up beside me and I look down. There is a little 3 or 4 year girl in her child seat, just pumping her little right arm, up and down. Give her a blast of my air horn and this big, ole grin just spreads across her face and she gives me a thumbs up. She's almost dancing in her seat and clapping her hands, talking to daddy. She was really over joyed. Cause she was so happy, her daddy was happy and as they passed me, he turns around and smiles and also gives me a thumbs up.

What did that cost me?? Bout 10 or 15 seconds of my time but oh....... did I gain a lot out of that. Cause of her evident joy, I've spent the next 7 or 8 hrs with a light heart and a grin on my face!!!!!!!! Simp;e pleasures can equal great joy!!!!

Thanks for putting up with reading this and hope it put a smile on ya'lls face and a little joy to your lives.

Hey Panhandle, let me know how that satellite works out for ya, was thinkin' bout goin that route but thought it would be a pain in the ### gettin' the dish pointed just the right way every time. Tryin' to figure out a way to watch my Packers on the Sunday ticket while im on the road, the #### laptop never seems to work well gettin' live video.

what i did, back in the day when i first started trucking.

i had a fence post from the hard ware store. that held the dish. 6 feet long. and another post slightly smaller in diamater and also 6 feet long that slid inside the bigger post. basically, i had an extendable leg for the dish. the kenworth i was driving at that time had locks on the back of tractor. that held the fence posts.

i would go into the settings on the receiver. put in the zip code. adjust the azimuth angle of the dish. turned the volume up on tv so i could listen for antannae strength. raised the post up above the tractor and locked. and moved the dish around in circle slowly, till i got the fastest beeps. i also had a compass that helped out so i wasn't doing a complete circle.

i wouldn't be using pvc pipe. these bouncy roads can break that stuff real easy.

y ou need a good 4g signal to handle streaming tv. that's a lot of bandwidth being streamed if you don't have enough internet speed. sound you can do. but video is 10 times more bits then sound.

For more smileys, click on the 'more' option on the drop down on regular posts or on the side when you quote posts, and you'll find quite the collection of them!:Bus::biggrin_1square11::mmad::tongueSTARS::O_o_1PIRATES16::smt068

Oh, I've had the sat for quite awhile now. The sis works for one of their dealers and got the dish and box for free. Am also piggy backed on her subscription. Like snowwy, I had a 6 ft bar mounted to my grab rail on the KW. This International didn't work quite that way, so have mounted the pipe on the mirror bracket. Carry the dish inside the truck but sure like snowwy's ideer. Once you know what your doing, takes about 5 minutes to set up.

1 problem with the setup tho is, unless you spend the money to get the different "free" channels (ABC, NBC, etc), you will NOT be able to watch them unless your in the area of your home base. IE sister lives in PA, can only watch those channels if I'm also in PA.

So Miss Lilbit, where you been hiding at lately? Hardly see you any more on the threads I frequent. How's the new house and car doing?
