Trucking is very hard on relationships.
Trust has to be 100% by both parties, and communication is a key. But still too much time alone wears on anyone. I know it has placed a massive burden on my wife over the years. And even now when I am home every weekend I still know that it is hard on her.

 

Yes it is very hard on them. Sounds like you have an amazing woman there chrome. hold on to her with all you have!!! i warned my fiance before i went trucking again that i owuldnt be there and she was ok with it then but 2 months later she isnt but hey even then my trust for her wasnt 100%. Its time to put on my big boy pants and get over this one

 

I travel with JJ so we don't have that problem TG! Actually we never did I had my own things to do when he first started with Central and eventually I started travelling with him (TG I like the lifestyle)

 

yeah i wish she would of went with me but she has her prioritys and i have mine. and she doessnt like me being gone all the time so it wasnt gonna work

 

otr trucking caused me and my wife to split for a time. thank god i was able to land a gig where i am home every night.

 

Thats good to hear that you were able to get back with your wife it sounds like? I would love to find a gig in my home town but i guess everything happens for a reason

 

local gigs aren't as good as they once were. around here. we don't have the option of ports and containers. and what local work there is. has really gone to craps. most of it being forever gone now to never come back. the wages are way lower. and the hours are way less also.

 

is there a rail hub in slc where they bring the containers in? i know we got a terminal out near logan .

 

very true. living in redding there are no ports or containers. i would have to haul woodchips or logs or lumber or something like that and the pay isnt that great sometimes but then again i guess i would still have a relationship if i had a gig like that now
