Actually we have two runs to CA every week. Those usually leave Friday evenings and have the same load coming back. One is a produce return load the other one is chocolate. Both offload in the Tacoma area and are home on Thursdays, but those are not team runs.

picked up my perfectly legal load in tooele headed for phoenix. had my phoenix load back home already booked. . but my load is too high. some disassembly required. get it scaled.

EIGHTY SIX THOUSAND POUNDS. you said the load weighed 46k. NOT 54K.

you wouldn't think 2 daycabs would be that heavy.

so guess i'm spending the night. get the load OFF. and guess i'll call it early home time.

well, this is how i see it.

if they'll unmount the 5th wheel and slide it forward the remaining 2 notches and bolt it back down. with any luck that'll take 500 pounds of bridge weight AND drive axle weight and put it on the steers. (if only i had a sliding 5th wheel). but my steers are only 11,000 empty or loaded. i'd like to see a little more on the front anyways. but that SHOULD take my bridge weight down from 74.5 to 74 where i'd be legal.

THEN, hopefully they can slide the front tractor forward 2 feet. drive the rear tractor forward 4 feet. take the 2500 off the trailer and put it on the drives. i might be a little over to which i can burn off in fuel. they'll have to permit me for 86k. and i can make delivery.

course, that's all dependant on the company allowing the 5th wheel to be repositioned.

i'm 11.1 on the steers. 32 on the drives. and 42.5 on the trailer. total of 85.5.

i understand why you'd set the truck up for flatbed. but i still think it's TOTALLY STUPID to have a fixed 5th wheel.

scratch that idea. if i move the 5th wheel that shortens my bridge length. giving me even less bridge weight.

so i gotta lose 500 pounds and move the remaining 2000 pounds forward. or they can pay for a heavy haul which would probably cost as much as taking 1 tractor off and shipping it on another truck. cheaper to buiy permits i would think. if we can fix the weight issue.
