Well I did it. I got 9.0mpg on my trip from Port Orchard WA to Riverside CA. It was a very light LTL load with some of our stuff and four pick ups in Oregon and all dropped at the same place in Riverside. I ran 63mph in WA and 59 in OR and CA. I was at about 43,100lbs before the last stop and I only added three more palettes of flowers. Probably less than 10,000lbs in the box.

I topped Mt. Ashland at 57mph in the left lane on I-5 :biggrin_2551:

Here are two pictures showing the mpg and trip miles.

Now I wish I would get a fuel bonus for sure. Last week I did 8.6mpg going South and 7.8mpg going home at 75,000lbs.

It has the Volvo D-13 Eco torque rated at 500hp and the 12 speed I-Shift transmission and 3:36 rears.

That is the truck and trailer.

I was thinking of sucking the trailer up even further, but I am worried I forget and crunch the fairing at one of those tight produce places we pick up from. I think I have two more clicks to go forward. It does have a 13,200lbs front axle to help with the two 150gal. tanks. It usually sits at 12,300 empty and full of fuel.

You knew why you were tired at the end of the day. Air assisted power steering if you were lucky, twin sticks, spring suspension, no air ride seat, no a/c and the list goes on. Just look at the sleeper on that Mack. I am sitting in my Volvo at the table and have probably 8' from the dash to the back wall, TV/DVD player, fridge, microwave and whole list of other creature comforts. So much for the old days being better. I guess I am a Pansy after all :).

    JimBob24 Thanks this.
