Florida sounded good to us, until they mandated that everyone has to be on their beloved grid. Since then, I'm taking a serious look at Flagstaff. I just love the feel of that town.

2 nights ago, I think, I got caught up in that crap on I24 in KY. Took me 8 and a half hrs, to do @ 45 miles. On top of that, once I hit Atlanta to deliver, it started to snow there!!!!! In Atlanta?????

Are you talking about the ice storm that hit around midnight last week wednesday/Thursday in KY and TN? I got really lucky on that one. I booked a load from AL up to Chicago. It picked up late and I didn't get loaded until midnight. From the 22 mile marker in TN on 65 and northwards it was ice and freezing rain. In Nashville I hit the snow. I figured I would be OK as long as I got thru crashville before the morning rush. I also thought pennyrile and 41 north would probably be a mess but have much less traffic than 65 so it would at least be safer. Plus I prefer to run 41 anyways because it cuts out so many miles and is an easier drive imo. I made it to Clarksville, TN exit ramp of the 19 before I decided to shut down at 3am because it was just too much. Got up at 7am and trucked all the way to Chicago. I heard later that 65 was shut down near E-town for almost 15 hours. Talk about lucky. I made it up there and back home no problems. Ice road trucking ain't so bad if you just keep the speed reasonable and don't have a thousand idiots all around you.

All righty now, who on this thread is a mechanically inclined genius? I'm currently broken down with a pancake brake, on the right side, front axle on my trailer. Heard the air leaking back thru the valves, so safely pulled over as soon as I could. If the right hand chamber is the bad one, why are the brakes on the left side smoking?
-
Because the bad one is not doing any work. So the good ones have to work extra and they share air thru the splitter, so both will be dragging some.
To get to a shop you can use vice grips to clamp off the line to the bad maxi, then back off the brake on the bad chamber so that it will not set. Take your time and you will be fine.Panhandle flash Thanks this. -
What grid? Electric?
If so, I am in Lakeland and we have our own local power company. Tampa has their own also. No Duke energy here. -

I actually read up on what you were talking about right after I replied. They are working to change the ordinances in some areas now. It does not really effect me, since my wife would never consider living that way unless it was due to economic collapse. And if that happened we would not stay together anyway, she would gravitate to any help she could get, and I would head to the woods. Living off the land is very easy in Florida. Lots to eat and it stays warm. And most of the land in the state is empty. Some farmed, but as you get to the south of me it is empty. Lots of fish, hogs and anything else you can think of lol.

We had our Mechanic (who is wonderful) change out a break drum, wheel seal, bearing and the last two airbags so they are all new. We finally found a mechanic we like and his prices are good and he does great work.
