I know exactly what you are talking about JJ, I am in the TN ARNG and when 22Oct2011 gets here, I am out of the Army. I will have 8 years with two deployments in at that time. Three years ago, hell a year ago, you could have asked me and I would have said; "I am in for life" but man it just interferes with my love for trucking and you just can't put a 100% into trucking when in the Guard. So, I decided after this last deployment I am done.

I thank you for your service and wish you the best brother,

OK i Guess i need to rant a little. I was at the Americold in Ontario, Or. While sitting in the door waiting to get loaded, i noticed a C.R. England truck backing in a door 2 doors away. It wasnt like it was a complicated back or anything of the sort but the driver was blind siding in a spot that didnt needed to be blind sided in.

he was a student probably not long out of school. He was blind siding into a stack of pallets located on his driver side while his trainer was still sitting in the passenger seat. i had to tell the trainer that he was backing into the pallets.

My rant is if you are not experienced enough or you really dont want to train drivers the right way then you really have no buisness teaching just because you need the miles to pay your truck payment. he should have been on the ground watching his student back and then hitting the stack of pallets would have been avoided instead he was just too lazy to get out of the truck and do what a good trainer does and thats watch out and stop him if he or she is going to hit something and make corrections accordingly so that the student learns to back properly. seeing trainers out here like that one really P!$$e$ me off. JJ.

Ok, well I took the plunge and applied with Swift. Training is in Lewiston but my home terminal will be Salt Lake. Right now I am mainly looking for my CDL and Swift is the only one that has told me they would hire. Not having Experience really sucks but we will see where I stand when JJ starts up his company, hint hint :biggrin_25525::biggrin_25525:. I'll keep ya posted, still have to go through the interview and get my permit before school starts (kinda wierd, but show me a normal Trucker :biggrin_25520:). Well gotta feed the kids so talk later. over

give em hell JJ. When I was training I saw a student trying to pull into into a pull through spot next to me about hit my trailer with his. He stopped but was afraid to back up

His trainer had gotten out at the fuel islands and told him to park the truck while he went in to have dinner.

Of course I also ran into a guy who had just upgraded at the Bollingbrook drop yard who couldn't back, his trainer did all the backs. He had his required number of backs, but they were all straight line backs either in big parking lots or at the terminal. Anything complex the trainer did the backing.

I worked with him for about 3 hours on backing, and his trainer was also the kinda guy, "Off my truck outta my life" didn't give him his phone number or anything. He was ready to leave the truck there at the drop yard and call a cab to the airport and go home.

Snow sucked yesterday. All the way to the state line from the house it was ok, since NY knows how to plow roads. As soon as I got near Erie the CB was constantly going about cars in ditches.
Got my load on and headed out. Had a good 200 miles of snow, got better as I got near I-80 though.
I think it must just be Erie County PA that cannot plow or something. I mean the roads were still covered for the most part.

    Now for a rant.
Got to delivery location and could not drop.
I arrived at 1920 for a 2000 delivery. They finally got me a door at 0030. Empty at 0140.
Needless to say that I stayed for my 10. They did not complain about that though.
Actually the lady at the receiving desk asked me how I could deal with all of this without coming in and complaining.
I just laughed and told her that I have done this long enough now to know that it will not help.

So I picked up my new load in Gettysburg this morning and now I am in MI. I have a 0800 appt about 160 miles from where I am now, then back down to OH for stop 2.
Then they got me a load out of Tiffin OH going to Hagerstown MD.
I am trying to get out of that one. They are only paying 360 miles on it or something. No way it is that short. Especially since we cannot take the tolls in OH or most of them in PA.
