i worked for a company that had supply kits in every truck. you had everything needed to do the most basic repairs.

glad hands, air line kits, tail lights, park lites and brake lites, etc.

it was a local company though. and you had to have your own tool kit to which they give you list of what you should have when hiring on. i thought it was smart business decision. cuz i'm sure it can't be cheap on the books to send out the company mechanic to do the stupidest repairs.

A friend from church is a shop foreman for local long haul company and he's more concerned about all the drivers that are going to lose the ability to drive. The new CSA rules in regards to sleep aptnea or weight is gonna be a pain. My friend was told that any driver that is 80 lbs or more over weight will fail the DOT physical as will any driver with sleep aptnea. The CSA 2010 website offers suggestions on how to keep fit like jogging around the rest stop and eating healthy (yea ok, like thats gonna happen). Hope everyone had a good holiday, stay safe this weekend and look out for those druncken 4 wheelers. I'm working but its a go nowhere kinda shift.

There are no rules in CSA 2010 regarding Sleep apnea or weight. That is a false rumor.
Also CSA2010 is in full effect as we speak.

What he is referring too is a proposed rule. It has not even gone into rule making yet. And it will not cause drivers to loose jobs, but will make it so allot will have to go for sleep studies. If they have sleep apnea they will have to get machines.

What a perfectly crappy day this turned out to be. Took 3.5 hrs to get the headlights and brake light fixed. Most of that was waiting. Brakes turned out to be a wiring problem due to all this ice and snow.

Then I had to go thru NY during the day time and that took forever. Took me 9 hrs to do 400 miles. *sighs*

I keep a couple of regular trailer lights with me, and 2 head lights.
On the prostar I am lucky in the headlight department. They are normal car ones and are only like 8 bucks at walmart.
I will not buy LED ones for the trailers if those go out, 90% of the time if an LED is out it is wiring. But the old style ones I keep a few around.
Then when I replace one I go and by a new one. And send the receipt for that one to the company. This way I always have spares.

Sitting at the TA in Ontario CA delivered to Walnut Ca today and have to take a trailer there in the morning and have it loaded and then drop it at Montebello ca for another driver, and get an empty from there and go to a cold storage place in Riverside CA to pick up our load which is a 5 dropper, at least they pay for Multiple stops $25.00 each so guess that's a hundred bucks for the pain lol:biggrin_2556: JJ was was peeved when he got the load and sent in a QC message asking was the 5 stop garbage load his and very quickly the CA dm called him and said no not if he didn't want it lol. So guess we will be in Portland for the new year.

He has to make up Drill next week so we will be home Thursday,Friday, Saturday and Sunday so this pay period is gonna suckkkkkkkk.

Nope I'm guessing we will be in CA somewhere after checking app times, we pick up at Walnut CA 10-00 and then our next pick up isn't until 1800 so he won't have a lot of drivetime left today after we do the local jobs, butttttttt they are paying hourly and miles today:yes2557: and now Marci owes us another favor lol.

I am going to change my name to "Next guy." As in, "let the next guy deal with it." I was to pick up a preloaded trailer that had a broken axle. There is NO WAY the guy who dropped it did not know the axle was broken as the wheels on the last set of tandems was all bent and the DOT bumper was sitting about an inch off the ground.

So I am sitting in cranberry, NJ waiting for a trailer shop to get out here to fix the trailer, Although they may remove the wheels and chain the axle up and tow it to the shop. I was supposed to be headed home last night, but NOOOOOO. I swear some drivers are idiots

HEY!!!!! Quit calling me an idiot, I'll have you know that I'm actually an idiot deluxe. lol

CD kewl that your company will just reimburse you. Wish mine did. Unfortunately, it almost takes an act of congress here to get parts. They would much rahter pay a TA or petro to fix the problem. With the quality of drivers their forced to hire, I suppose I can understand their thinking.
