Swift is offering .44 cpm and sent me an offer letter with a start date of next Monday. I took a job with a flatbed company first and physically I wasn't able to do it from the aftermath of an old injury. The recruiter with Swift mentioned that gross my checks would be around $1100 - $1200 a week. Does that sound right? Last week I applied for 10+ companies and Swift has been the first to respond and move forward. National Carriers gave me an offer but I wouldn't start until the end of January. I could hold out for something "better" but I have bills pilling up.
Marten Transport pay is better, but only you know what your current financial situation will permit. @TawcoTruck - Would you be going with Swift dry van or Swift refrigerated? ~ You may not have enough driving time for Marten though. Call and ask or submit the short app. Marten® Transport CDL-A Jobs | Marten Transport® CDL Company
Tread lightly with that place. There are quit a few past comments on here about applicants being dropped mid stream through a long drawn out "hiring" process. Knight has about ruined that place from what it was.
$1,100 is 2500 miles as straight milage pay. If you have accessory pay on top of that, you could be in that range, so I think it's plausible. I started at .44cpm at Schneider and I was grossing about that amount.
Swift is a good choice. Can get started sooner also. Swift used to get lots of bad press from drivers, but seems that's not the case today. I'm still gung-ho refrigerated trucking though. ~ Saw a Swift Refrigerated rig that looked exactly like this photo, clean and sharp looking. It was on I-15 running through Las Vegas.
