Job with Swift?

I think averaged about $1300/wk gross at Swift as soon as I got my own truck. But I was on the target dedicated fleet. Pay was from 41cpm (for the longer runs) to 55cpm (for short runs). No bonuses or any thing. But no waiting on shippers and receivers at all. Just pickup target trailer at DC - drop it at store, return with empty, repeat. I always made 14k miles (at least) a month. But I didn't screw around. If I had any time left to run another load I did. No shortage of miles there. But 2 of the guys that I was at the academy with went to do otr after finishing with their mentor. Both of them had really bad experiences making very little money. At least that's what they told me. I've come to realize that alot of guys can't or don't want to run at least 600 miles a day

 

I left swift last April. And I was out of the Phoenix terminal.

 

Food distribution places are notorious for ridiculously long waits to get loaded/unloaded

 

It's the lumpers for the unloads, and the requirements of the receiver to count every single item and then sort and put everything on new pallets.
4 hours is about average, but it can be 8 or more.

Amazon live unloads are the same.

 

Those positions fall under Ardmore, OK. Fill out the application for Ardmore. If/When they call, tell them you’re wanting to work out of the Saginaw location. They have drop lots all over the place that are never listed, but, fall under a DC location.

Also, your buddy should qualify for a referral bonus, if they’re offering it at the time of your hire.

I'm one of those that doesn't want to run 600 miles a day.
That is one reason why dedicated and me don't mix well. I like to take my time and have time to relax every day.

But that is one nice thing about Swift. You can find your niche, if you get in the right terminal, have a good DM and find the right thing to do for yourself.

I'm running GLR region now, but for many years it was OTR.
I have always averaged my hours to run recaps between home times. That means limited miles per day.
I have always hated doing 34's.
