Hello-
New to the forum but i've been a lurker for quite a while. I recently received my CDL in November and landed a gig as a delivery driver for Budweiser. Pay was low (13.00/hour) but i got a little experience, be it not OTR.
Anyways I accepted a job from Schneider that is a dedicated route and allows me to be home 2 days a week (hometime is important for family reasons). It's a team dedicated route and my recruiter says my pay would be 825/week. Question is this. Is this good for a rookie just starting out? Is this before taxes and do they keep their word as far as pay goes?
Also does anyone know how often they have pay raises, if at all?
Thanks in advance and any advise or anything else I should know about is always welcomed.
Thanks guys.

If the job is paid per mile then that 825 is an average not a guarantee. You might make more or you might make less. That 825 would be before taxes.
As far as whether or not it's good pay for a rookie? That really depends on your individual situation and sensibilities.Chinatown Thanks this. -
What Schneider offered you sounds reasonable for a dedicated team operation. As sharp.dressed.man stated, it can fluctuate a little, but that's true with any trucking job.

Thank you for the responses guys.
Since this is a team route I imagine the cab will have bunk beds or something correct? Does Schneider allow you to have a tv or xbox in the sleeper? Fridge? -
Yes it will most likely have two beds, however as a team driver you won't need two beds. As a team operation the truck will never stop moving except for fuel and bathroom stops. Team driving is whole different animal! Be weary also, two days off a week to a mega-carrier maybe have a different definition then what you expect! It usually means home in the evening one day and leave sometime the next day. Not necessarily two days completely off! Not trying to scare you but as team driver I can tell you exactly what to expect.
Personally if I were in your shoes, had a family, and currently at Budweiser, I would stay put! The grass is always greener! As an over the road team driver for a mega-carrier you are rarely going to see your family! I understand you want to better your current financial situation however its not always good for the family situation.
Most over the road drivers would kill for your position at Budweiser!
Good luck in your endeavor... -
Ya, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't sharing bed sheets with someone :barf: My schedule says I will be home early Saturday afternoon and depart again Monday at midnight
-
I don't use sheets; I use an oversized sleeping bag. Easy to roll up and out of the way. I ran teams for just 2 or 3 months and we both used oversized sleeping bags. Also do this as solo driver. The regular large sleeping bag isn't good; hard to turn over, etc. The super big oversized ones are great. My wife and I could both get in it.

If sharing sheets makes you write :barf: then I would guess teaming is not for you.

My question is how much can a husband wife team make per month if returning home is not an issue? Because it really isn't.

According to Schneider's website they pay inexperienced team drivers 40cpm split. Figure on average 5k miles a week.
