Congrats!
well I knew allot about trucking before I started here, but they will teach you allot of that stuff in orientation and everyone of us here is willing to give out our phone numbers to other W/S drivers so if you ever need help you'll have plenty of people to call. And most drivers out there on the road are willing to help if you ask.
Stuff like fueling, ask them in orientation to show you how to fuel a truck...its pretty much the same as filling your car with gas except theres 2 pumps.
Step 1: Pull STRAIGHT in to the fuel island
Step 2: Get out and slide your Fuel Card (its like a company credit card thats only good for buying fuel, you will get it in orientation)
Step 3: Slide your (Loves/Flying J/Pilot/Wilco/Hess/TA/SappBros Rewards Card) >>>>>Thats how you get free showers 1 shower for 50 gallons or more of fuel<<<<<
Step 4: Enter your Truck #
Step 5: Hit skip for the PO #
Step 6: Enter Trailer #
Step 7: Enter Trip #
Step 8: enter mileage (certain states only)
Step 9: Hit Tractor Fuel
Step 10: hit skip when it ask for a $100 advance unless you want a $100 advance on your paycheck
Step 11: Open drivers side fuel cap and put nozle in and lock handle ON
Step 12: go to passenger side and do the same as above
Step 13: when you pump as much fuel as you want simply flip the lever down on the pump on the drivers side
The pump with the card reader controls both sides so if you want to shut it off just flip down the thing on that side and both sides start. And diesel pumps automaticly shut off when the tank is "full" or almost full just like a gas pump does.

Yeah he was fueling he picked up a load in Kingman going to LA.. He's been with the company for over 27 yrs, the most senior driver -
Darn.. I was thinking about following him to T/S and ask a few questions, but I didnt. I was still recovering from the giant weight lifted off my shoulders from my drive test in the morning. hehe

Congrats on passing your test!...Now comes the real learnin'!!!!!!!

Thank you. No I drive a gold stratus. He was at the light on the off ramp at Andy Devine St (Rt 66). He was turning left I was going right. I just thought it was ironic since I planned on working for WS and the first truck I see after getting license was a WS truck. You dont see too many of them down here.

You will do fine here, next week go down to the T/S and park in the car parking area, Go inside and take a grand tour of the place on your own, then get you a soft drink go out to the fuel pumps and watch afew guys fuel their trucks, if any of them look like they may be friendly enough to talk to then say" hi" some of these guys are just waiting to talk to someone, if you want to, call me, I can take all your concernsaway after I tell you about a few things that happened to me. Plus I may be thru there in a few days, this load is going to SLC and I'm headed home after this to PHX. -
If you are going to be coming thru las vegas, let me know, Ill buy lunch or dinner or whatever meal it may be.truckerdaddy24 Thanks this.
