Obetz is the Columbus OC. Jamie is the recruiter out of Obetz, nice girl, she will help you with any help you need. If you are interested in dedicated just tell her, but I know they are pushing hard for regional drivers. I use to drive regional, it isn't bad, you will be home every weekend and the DBL for regional is pretty good.

Some days I work almost a full 14 hours, others I only work 6 or 7, depends on the run I get that day. Never have any problems with my hours, our account only works Monday thru Friday, so our hours reset every weekend. IF I wanted to run more I could, I occasionally will run a Saturday, but then I have to watch my hours during the week. Problem with always running is you never know what loads are gonna come up. I have gone some weeks where every load was 10-12 hours, then other weeks where I barely worked 40 hours all week.

Are you still paid cpm or is it per day? How do they do the pay on dedicated. I know they have the unload pay but how else do they pay?

Every account pays different. Heck SNI has some salaried accounts. Our account gets paid cpm plus unload pay. The pay is pretty good.

I am at Pendleton now and when I get out I'm going somewhere between Columbus and Cleveland and applying to Schneider. I am at 7 years now and your right I think the Marines will make you a successful driver. Im hoping they dont mess around with FY16 VEERP so I can get out early.

You know I'm in the same boat as you. My EAS was March 2015 and I go on terminal tomorrow thanks to the veerp. Trust me man the corps wants you out as bad as it sounds but they are approving them left and right. I submitted for the veerp late February and the beginning of March it was approved for 8 months early. Just one thing to keep in mind with your CDL, if you get it too early then they will have you do the refresher. But keep an eye out and I can almost guarantee come 1 October you will be able to submit for the veerp. One thing to keep in mind if you are serious about it, if you are going for more then 6 months of your current EAS it has to go up to the first general in your chain of command. With that being said they need to receive it no less then 180 of the NEW EAS you want. If you do that you will be golden and best of luck to you with your last few months, I know it's been a killer for me waiting to get out and start driving.

I already got the CDL. I drove truck before I joined for 2 years so I'll have to take the refresher but the VA will pay for it. My goal is to get recent experiance and then buy a truck to go on the Schneider choice program. Already put back alot of money towards that goal and if I get this august deployment Ill be set financially.

Yeah my goal is around 1 year get a truck and start driving choice. I am looking into the apprenticeship and if it works out I will save all that for the year then use it as startup costs. Also I wonder if the VA would cover the cost of a truck for their small business loan. If that is the case that will probably give the best rates but there's plenty of time to research it

Good on you Marines! I am glad I found this thread. I am retiring this year. Waiting on W95 and should leave Oki in a few weeks and be retired at the end of this FY. It seems a lot of Marines find their way to Schneider. I was looking at another company, but Schneider keeps popping up on my radar. Best of luck to both of you!!!
