My first load out was a 2 truck convoy to Louisville, KY. Was fun, we sat and BS'd on the cb the whole way. LoL

Start reading at this post: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...ay/175708-joplin-mo-4-23-a-3.html#post2565680 (just click the link, it'll take you to the right post)

That's the first day of the "boot camp". Really they just want you to work with 13speed trucks and 53' trailers before going out with your finisher.

Great thread! Just applied online for Conway (they have some sort of facility about 5 minutes from me) but I'm curious: My school has 10 speed Eaton-Fullers (I'm still too new, haven't driven yet) but I have a diagram for the shifting pattern (including the splitter)

Does anyone have a diagram for the 13 speed? Do they use a splitter? Unfortunately, I still have that new driver smell, ya know?

Don't sweat the shift pattern. You will learn it the first time through the gears. We don't have that many 13's left, mostly 10's these day. But, if you get a 13, its like a 10 and the upper range gets split. Have fun with school and be safe!

Thanks! I also found diagrams for different shift patterns and see what you mean, and I may even get a chance to drive tomorrow!

Anyone do the Conway training in Michigan? Happy with their program?

Has anyone had any experience using simulators in their training?

I haven't used a Sim, but would like to. Would be interesting to go though some bad situations using it so I can get a feel for a skid or such before it actually happens out here on the road.

We helped install and test drove two on the last day of driving school. They are pretty realistic. The gears even grind when you mess up. The only problem for me was the 2 dimensional imaging made me seasick. I had to get out after a couple miles before I barfed.

New pre-trip procedure...spare fuses, triangles, barfbags!

Have fun and be safe you all.
