I know where there is a a stack of 100 or so brand new Jost take off’s going to the scrap yard if you need parts.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
IMO the Truck needs a whole new fifth wheel. It’s not mine. Wondering why they’re not selling them if they’re brand new?SmallPackage Thanks this.

OE Take off’s replaced by Hollands. Since the dealers discourage ordering a tractor without a fifthwheel to save on FET like you could in the past. They get sent with the cheapest standard crap and then get swapped out tor the good stuff cheaper at an aftermarket outfitter then the dealer will do. No one down here likes Jost.Last edited: Jan 17, 2026
Oxbow, Bean Jr. and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Here’s a look at the internal workings of one of these.

That’s very helpful.

4 of my 5 trucks have had this. As I have an older one, I'm not concerned about somebody reaching in and unhooking it, (truth is I'm not worried about it as I'm not a jerk in the truckstop). It's hard to pull, and I like it like that!Lonwolv54, MACK E-6 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
To tell you the truth those make me nervous.
On the Jost, the bar across the back side of the kingpin admittedly provides a bit of a sense of security.Rideandrepair, Goodysnap and Lonwolv54 Thank this. -
I liked my Jost never had any trouble with it.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
They are really a good option and usually close to 1/2 the cost of Holland for a full new top plate. The landing gear are also robust and compare really close to the Mark 5.
rollin coal and Rideandrepair Thank this.
