Guys I posted in another thread
But I thought I should make a thread as well.
All my fellow truckers.
Those who started fresh; are healthy/somewhat healthy
Those who are veterans with diabetes/stroke risk/cardiac disease risk.
JUMP ROPE
GET IT
YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!
I was 185 lbs and 5'5".
A girl once mocked me and said are you pregnant cuz of how big I had gotten.
The same year I started trucking. I started jump rope.
I started at 15 minutes with 2 minute intervals with long ### breaks in between.
Then I went upto 30 mins with 5 minute intervals with short breaks. Then I moved up to 45 mins. My stamina could be compared to a stallion. I could run faster, longer. Before that I could only run for 5 mins max. It went up to around 10, then 15 mins so it trippled.
The only caveat to my story is that I was local I mostly worked 3PM to 1 or 2 AM or 3PM to 3/4AM. You can make of that whatever you want.
But results for me were fantastic. I came down to 160 in about 6-9 months.
Results were not what I was aiming for cuz I totally neglected diet.
Now I'm workin 12 hour shifts. All I do is work, sleep, repeat. But planning to somehow start it again.
That small bit of rope is so helpful. And may even save your health and may even save your life in long run.
P.S
I got a lot of weird looks from truckers(usually the old fat ones). But alot of the same old and young supported me and asked how to get started.
It was awesome. Just give it a shot.
Jump Rope Can't Stress This Enough!!

Good for you, but I'll pass.
Took a fall recently that gave me bruised ribs and other pains. At 64 years old I won't be doing jumping a rope that probably would cause another injury.farmerjohn64, Coffey, rachi and 1 other person Thank this. -
Try the Crossrope app... tons of great workouts.
Just bought their lean and strong set... you don’t have to get those but any set of weighted ropes makes for good workoutsHauler_bowler Thanks this. -

Nothing good about pounding a overweight 50 year old body jumping up and down.
The same way I feel about jogging.
Everyone I know that jogged all their life has had knee and hip surgeries
I’ll take low impact. Preferably a recumbent bike.farmerjohn64, Moosetek13, Sirscrapntruckalot and 5 others Thank this. -
I have always wondered why these big trucking companies don't offer a discount on gym memberships. Like planet fitness, they are everywhere. They offer you discounted health insurance to not smoke or to see a virtual doctor. It just seems like it would be common sense to add a gym membership to get drivers healthy.
BTW, I think the OP is bringing up jumping rope because you can bring it on the truck. I don't think a stationary bike would fit. I used to bring those resistance bands with me but after a while they just sat there so I took them home. My doctor told me to start excersizing so I might start again.Sirscrapntruckalot Thanks this. -

I'm doing the advanced workouts now and trying to learn the tricks. After a few minutes of criss cross attempts, I start to imagine how Kunta Kinte felt.Sirscrapntruckalot, tommymonza, meechyaboy and 1 other person Thank this. -
