I can't do double-unders yet, just alternate foot, criss-cross sometimes, and really rapid basic jump.

You just touched on something I argued a lot when I was younger and an avid gym goer.

Humans are not joggers, we were never really meant for jogging. As a predatorial animal we were designed for sprinting, not jogging. When you sprint, you will feel all of your muscles tighten up and it will feel smooth and a lot easier on your body.

That said I know there is a way to jump rope sort of like a sprint, involving most of your muscles. You might be surprised how challenging it is, and it shouldn't wear on your body too much, if at all. If you are doing a lazy jump, then yes it's going to wear on you.

If jumping rope just flat out isn't your cup of tea, you can take up possibly bike riding. It's also easy on your body. But for me, I have poor balance on a bike and I have trust issues biking near a road.

I used to ride my touring bike everywhere when I was young. Minimum of 20 miles a day.

Rode from Michigan to Maine back in the day.

I have a mountain bike with street tires now.

I don’t like it. To high up in the air. I’ve always wanted a nice recumbent bike so that could be the exercise purchase.

The trust issues with biking along traffic these days would be tough.

Looking back I can’t believe I never got ran over by a car while biking home from work on a dark rainy night when I was a teen.

Yes double dutches wear on your body the lazy jump requires tons of more effort

double unders on the other hand.. I used to do one at the end of every workout the. Graduated to ten , then 10 in a row and so on... the key is jumper higher without sacrificing form spinning the rope faster will come.
I’m closing in on triples but I’m in no hurry to perfect it. Just getting 2 and a trip is a accomplishment with that.

    @Chinatown

You'd be surprised what we do. I've kept two dollies on the top bunk in my cab before. You can bungee a bike up there. Or you can just buy a bike that folds.

I take 2 jump ropes (a speed rope and a 3-pounder), push-up handles, an ab-roller, a pair of gymnastics rings and two dumb bells with 40 pounds worth of plates. The gym rings have a strap with an anchor that I can use to hang almost anywhere (a tree, flatbed rub rails, etc.). They're great for pull-ups and rows. I probably spent less than $90 for all these things. I also lay off the sweets and soda and usually only drink water, iced tea or coffee.

Nice to see an actual smart guy on here. Other than most of the granpa truckers. Still stuck in 1960s.

Man you smart enough figure all that out. What you doin truckin bro?
Grab a good medical trade those always doing good. Or a nice 2 year degree/certificate career.

A lot of truckers will probably be replaced by AI. Except for the one who lead the road train/vonvoy.

USMC been experimenting with that tech to reduce casualties in logistics missions. But that's a different topic. I got off on a tangent.
