Skeet, I should not have said "Low Life". But if your a good employee and the company is any good, they understand when a better offer comes along......and if they handle it properly and the grass aint so green, maybe you would come back.

No different than any other job in any other industry. Employment courtesies are the same every where you go. Keep in mind though not every one adheres to them. There are a lot of different walks of life in the trucking industry. Some professionals some not so professionals. Skeet I believe you were brought up right and you did your service, you know the correct way to go about things. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

no matter even though one give's a notice, the company can still DAC'em by saying, "left w/o notice"....
now another thing or two or three, when an OTR driver (for instance) gives his notice, there have been instances where the dispatcher kept him out LONGER so he would miss his first day on the new job...
also, when you give a notice, there have been times the employer "let's one go" thinking well, "he didn't want to work here no more, so we'll fire him", then they CAN SAY they fired you"....on a DAC.....
there have been times when one gives a notice, the company WILL NOT ASK you why you want to leave, the boss says, "ok, good luck to you".....and I PERSONALLY had this happen to me......i worked over 5 years at a company, did my job every day/night, and the boss couldn't give a flip i wanted to leave, and didn't ask me to stay....
so pretty much from that day on, i simply find another job, tell the "new employer" i can start in the "obligated two weeks", but i NEVER tell my soon to be former employer.....my last day...?? i say, "oh by the way, i got a new job, the new company needs me now, bye"......
what can anyone realistically do....???
take my name away from me...???
DAC me...??? by saying "left w/o notice"...??? who cares....leaving w/o notice is NOT a crime, no laws were broken, only the 'courtesy' of it all, and i say screw'em....they'll get over it......as they say, "truckers are a dime a dozen".....skeet Thanks this. -
I wonder - if you're going to 'give notice' if you do it in writing and have it signed for - then the company can't come back on you and say you didn't give notice - you have it in writing and that they recieved it... just a thought...

well obviously dont go tell your DM or boss that you might quit, get a sure job lined up and then put your notice in and work it out from there. that way if they wanna give you a bad rep on the DAC at least you wont be out of work

Often giving a notice just guarantees you won't have anything to do for 14 days....

i type up and itemize each article...
this i make up 2 copies, and someone signs for this, both forms. i keep one, they keep one....this way, NO ONE can say i did not turn in any company property....works every time......and if anyone DOES REFUSE, then i would have signed it stating, "so and so was asked to sign but refused"....but this has not happened yet......
as for the 'notice" given...??? that is a great idea.....Lady K Thanks this.
