I’ve been selected for Jury Duty. Has anyone successfully been excused from this by claiming they’re a long haul trucker?

I recall a chat with someone years ago that said they were let off after claiming their occupation has them away for unknown periods of time. Wasn’t sure how true this might be so figured I’d ask around.

    - The instructions say to phone the courthouse the afternoon before to find out if things are still a go or not. My concern is, I don’t want to go through the hassle of scheduling this particular day off only to learn at the last minute it’s cancelled or I am no longer needed.

It's true, I did that. Told them I am a truck driver with unpredictable schedule and they left me alone

Yep. Got out of it. Due to financial reasons. Had to submit 2 paystubs with the request saying that it would cause undue financial hardship to me. 50 bucks a day, I make almost 500.

Recently got a summons to appear for jury duty few months ago and told them I was exposed to someone with Covid and did not have to go.

Got a letter years ago that I was to appear for jury duty and I just ignored it.Never heard anything more from them.

You probably shouldn’t do that. It’s a legal requirement, better to get out of it properly which we can all do, rather than ignore it. Don’t need that popping back up.
