When did Millis start a school? For some reason I thought they only hired drivers with over a year of experience.

OK, that makes sense then why I thought I had to wait a year to work for them back when I was getting out of CDL school.

Well...I got the call and my class with Millis begins Monday, December 2nd in Burleson. Even though I want to get started ASAP, I have some concerns. I haven't had my birth certificate since it got lost in my last divorce in 2006. I sent out for it in Missouri but it takes forever to get anything back from there. What if its not here yet when I leave? My second concern is that I chose Millis partly because everyone says they are so good with home time, but I have to be home at least once every month. I can handle what I need to do in just a day or so but I have to have at least one or two days a month but from what I'm understanding I might be out 8 weeks straight. I'll bust my tail, I'll take any ### chewing from a trainer and I'll do best. I am a fast learner and I listen so I'll push myself harder than my trainer will push me...but will he work with me to get me that day or two each month? or will I be looked down on for asking? Does anyone know the trainers out of Burleson?

Did you go through the state to get your birth certificate? I used a 3rd party (Vitalchek) and it was fast. I don't see it being a problem to get home during training...just need to communicate it.

I called State Records in Missouri and they referred me to a third party but that was a week ago and I've heard nothing yet.

Yeah Vital Chek is who they sent me to. I just checked the status and it said they verified my identity, revieved my payment. .. $48...and forwarded my request to Kansas City vital records yesterday. So it typically takes 5-7 days to process and 5-7 days for it to reach me. There are only 9 mailing delivery days left this month. I report to school on the 2nd. I hope I don't have to have the birth certificate.

So...I received a phone call the other day informing me that my school dates had been moved up to December 2nd. I got my Dot physical completed, got my CDL permit, and got most of the stuff I'll need together. I only live a half hour away from the Burleson Terminal where I will be taking my class so now its just a long wait to get things started.

THEY ARE ASKING FOR MONEY because it's part of the schooling program. You pay $2500 for the school training. $2000 is financed interest free from the company, paid back by payroll reduction each week. The other $500 is paid in two payments...$100 to hold your spot in class, and $400 due upon arrival.
