Hi all...Just another new guy here. I'm 47 years old and have had a class B CDL from the time the CDL's started. I'm from southwest PA and just recently lost my job after 30 years at the same company (the company was sold). I was driving a 1500 gal. tanker for all those years, and now that I'm unemployed, I figured I might as well go on and. get my class A license. I just passed my knowledge tests for class A, doubles & triples as well as HAZMAT last week, so I at least have my permit now and am looking to going on to truckers school here in the next month to get my A license.
Although I have a wife and 3 kids, I am looking forward to the challenge, and to go over the road and pay my dues if I must, and eventually work my way to being able to drive locally and be home MOST nights.
I plan on reading as much as I can here, and learning what I can prior to gaining "real experience" on the road. I will read a lot, and may ask a bunch of questions, but I won't say much as I like to live by my motto which is: "Better to be silent and be thought of as a fool, rather than to speak and remove all doubt."
Thanks,
OMC-MOOSE
