Its pretty rare that we ever have to touch anything ourselves, but it can happen. I have talked to drivers that said they have had to do it, however I have yet to do it... I don't get paid to unload, I get paid to drive a truck.
Your work history shouldn't be a problem I don't think, but they have been getting real picky as of late with you they take on. If its all just layoffs & nothing bad on your record then I don't see why they would say no. I quit one job then got laid off at the next & then went back to the first one again... then quit again to come to Central.
And just FYI get your permit BEFORE you come to the school, that way you won't have to pay the full 3 grand. You will only have to pay the refresher course price which I think is only 1,500. However I could be wrong with that pricing, I just know that its less the 3 grand.
Just applied to Central

Thanks Brickman81,
Good to hear about the unloading and chance to hire and good to know you like Central with your experience or you wouldn't still be there. My issue is big gaps in employment and don't know if they consider a current vending machine business as employment.
How are things going at Central now compared to the past? I always check out otr drivers and they look content and at ease. No one to bother them while working. I have been reading the various boards for years and know about the issues truckers deal with and wondering what it was like for you (or anyone who wouldn't mind sharing) at the beginning as far as likes and dislikes of which you have probably overcome now. How was the shaking and bumpiness on the bod if an issue one has to overcome? I am 53 divorced now and no kids so that relieves the family issues and home time. Thanks..Last edited: Feb 6, 2009

JJ has been with Central for over a year and he hasn't had to touch any freight, occasionally you do have to stand on the dock while they unload you ( Not often) Central are a good starter company to get your foot in the door so to speak lol.
The pay for a company driver isn't that great, but it isn't as bad as some other larger companies.
We have never had a problem getting home on the date we put in for (Great FM who keeps her word)
How you do at Central depends on who you get as a FM, IMHOrakusa Thanks this. -
Brickman thanks for setting that straight for me. It was a rumor I had heard.

No problem, you hear lots of things out here on the road. Just wait to see things for yourself, or only rely on people that you know you can trust.

I'm not for anyone getting into those company lease deal, however I do know a driver on here that is in a lease with Central & he is making a go of it so far.
I personally believe they are all scams, but that just me. -
dont blame Obama for trying to fix in 6months what took 8yrs to develope under Bush. never has a president been scrutinized and held so much to his word than Obama. if everyone did that with Bush we wouldnt be here in this mess today....BELIEVE THAT!techiekate29 and Poobah Thank this.

You know there is a politics thread right. He stated the "Bush/Obama economy" Take your political views over there. Yes they will let Democrats talk too

There is no way you believe that unless you are blind and deaf. Like The Bam if you want; but dont get carried away with him, REMEMBER Hitler gave great speeches too, and the world is alot worse off because of him. BELIEVE THAT.
