Where is your location?
As other drivers have suggested; apply even if you don't think you'll be hired. -
I also am ex Prime but not recent. Recovering from a illness went to work for a "leasing" agency. (was a mistake)
Some thoughts on your post
......Be careful you don't get classified as job hopper, think twice before making any lateral type moves
......Creativity during job search helped me, Craigslist etc etc seemed to be filled with jobs I didnt want.Networking is what helped me land a good private fleet job.
..... I remember the pressure of crappy paychecks so can relate. But keep your eye on the long term aspect of things. You have a skill thats in demand in this economy. Don't sell yourself short (like I did)
Best wishes and good luck to you -
The work is relatively mindless. Just herd and dock 25 trailers all day round and and round and round trying to keep up with production of 130 people They were able to fill a empty in about 14 minutes which ws about what it took to come back with one and take a load away.
The entire facility was closed up and the production outsource outside of the USA pernamently. It's behind three layers of butcher military wire slowly rusting in place with a 8 year old tree growing in "My dock" number two.
If you followed my stories over the years I lament one thing and it's a rarety When you have a trucking task that supports staying fit through mindless but not back breaking labor for very good money at that time in life and a happy wife putting together roasts of the yankee tradition for me half the day. Ready to keep me through the night and into tomorrow if need be. Clock work. Back and forth steady as she goes don't even notice me at all. Days and nights go by piling on that timeclock. OT? Certainly. Three thermoses of coffee stanleys behind the airride seat and so on.
Thats the one constant in life. When you think all is well in the gravy train, batten down the hatches you are fixing to ship green waters over the bows clear back to the bridge.
As a bonus you get to enjoy a proper secured and chained helicopter deck loading of about 65000 pounds give or take versus about 15 foot seas on the f'cstle right ahead.
Lumper Humper Thanks this. -
FWIW, when you list places you've lived rounding up to the nearest year is acceptable.
I've often dropped a couple months or added to make a full year on my resumé. Most places aren't *that* nitpicky. -
With the experience you got walk into some yards and shake some hands. If on the road put in a app then call in. Worse they can say is no but more then likely they say call us when you meet x requirement.
