    montana is the same. permanent registration.

    i heard idaho was also a one time fee. but i can't vouch for that one.

    Ok I did not know that if I buy equipment out of state, there is no sales tax?

    It doesn't work that way in FL, but FL is not CA...........thank god

    Not sure about each and every state, but in mine the issue isn't the registration/plate fee or even the one time sales tax - it's property tax. If anyone knows if registering in ME avoids that I would love to know. Seems to me as long as you are still titled in your home state you would owe property tax - mine is $4.50 per $100 in value and you can bet they value everything high! Titling it in ME is an option, but without living in ME it's pretty obvious what is going on.
