I like to run my numbers liberally to overestimate.
based on 5mpg and $4/gal that's 80 cpm for fuel.
If it's like $3.50/gal and you're getting 5.5mpg, well then that's like 63cpm for fuel, so split the difference and that's 69cpm, plus add IFTA in there...plus remember to keep like $300 a week for a maintenance fund. -

I hear you on being liberal about it. For a maitanence fund though why not do it by a CPM rate say 10-12CPM? I personally would want more then 300 a week for maitanence depending on what my current funds for my maitanence is. If I have say 20K I would drop it down to .08CPM or maybe keep it at 10 but if I just had to do this that and the other and used 12 of my 20K I had saved then I would bump it up and put the max amount that I could swing each week depending on my gross to the truck until I am back up to 20K or until I am in my comfort zone then drop it back down a little. Thats just me and IMO.

Well your doing the right thing with ten grand in backup good job. Run loose leaf like I do its easy. Get a reefer trailer you can double duty it hauling both refrigerated and dry freight. Check companies (not trucking) and see if you can pull their freight they may start u out with a small load but if you do a good job it will pay off in the end. Use a good broker that has A+ credit rating ive have 3 ive worked with for over 20 yrs and are good friends also. If you lease on to a company check out their safety rating and if they pay more cause your using your own authority and trailer. Get your own prepass once you get in the system and keep your self legal you will see an increase in green lights. And get a good accountant that knows trucking .. Enjoy and I hope you become and stay successful. RW
