I'm talking about leasing, since really, being a company driver won't work for you since you don't want to team, and I can't blame you. As a company solo, you get pooped on pretty hard, and make less than most lease contractors.
On the lease front, they have a 6 month "demo" lease, which is what I did - after that, there's only 18-36 month terms available. As far as your committment for schooling, it may be a year, but just as easy to do 6 months and jump ship with your newfound qualifications.
Just filled out my online application for CRE!

The trainer I had worked for England before working where I'm at and he did a 9 month lease so it's not just a jump from 6 to 18 months in leases.
On another note, I just saw an England truck rolled over in the ditch on the 80 in Nebraska. -
Then there was 9 months LEFT on that particular truck - it's not a normal part of their program.

I was talking to the guy that does orientation at my terminal the other day. He had one go thru last week that when he looked at the guys MVR it had accidents on it from 20 years ago.
The company was not concerned with them, but they were surprised that the state kept them that long. Most of the time if no injury's they clean it up after 5 years or so. But there is not hard rule. They can stay on the record for as long as the state wants them there.
Best bet is to always be honest. Too many people get sent home from orientation due to not putting all information down. -
