Single works great on a car. I recommend 2 for a tractor trailer

What kind of splitter or junction are you using, i ask because everything that comes from factory seems awfully cheap.

I have always run single antenna because it was easier to maintain and to install too.

I ask by curiosity, i am about to have a cab over and will run a sirio mag mount on top of that thing.

I disagree, the vehicle has some to do with it but it isn't the most important thing. Volvos are not exclusive to a good setup, there isn't much difference between that and most other trucks. The rf profile (so to speak) is about the same as other trucks.

There are things you guys are missing and some if explained won't get it (you are not dummies but it involves a creature that is hard to understand). I've finished with the cascadia and found out what the difficult problems so to find the solutions to fix these issues and tame this creature. I have applied these fixes to my own trucks with great success and will talk about them some other time.

Overall all trucks have a potential to be good radio platforms, there are really no exceptions.

Depends on mounting location. I recommend dipoles outside the rear fairings.[IMG]

This thread was directed at someone blaming his lack of performance on his radio instead of his antenna system.
Once he installs the radio in his car, he will have a baseline to compare to how it performs in his truck.
Only then will he realize how inefficient his antenna system is in his truck.

Reason for edit: single antennas on International Trucks suck performance-wise

Anything stock; antennas, coax, even the power wires are inefficient IMHO.

Yeah some other time. I come here for about 10 minutes a day because I have 10 minutes to check my email and get to work. What is really odd is why super techs and those experts haven't figured any of this out even though once one gets how rf antenna systems work they can see where the issues are with these trucks. Rabbi is on the right track but misses one or two things that would take a while to explain.

    Well, I await your breakdown.

And maybe stop the passive aggressive shots at others who take the time to share. You seem to have a wealth of knowledge but your disdain for those whom you disagree permeates the discussion. That's what's really odd.
