Tractor Supply is huge and they are not going out of business. Most likely the megas are low balling bids.

That's what I thought. I see them everywhere, even small towns. When the OP said TSC, the tractor place didn't even cross my mind. So I figured it was someone else.

Schneider is a mega ... more likely TSC has contracted with 2 or 3 of the larger brokers and are shooting for spot market rates.

Even the megas, Schneider included, are dumping power only loads on the spot market.

    LoneRanger and kanidana Thank this.

Contracts come and go. Over the last 11years I have seen them bounce around the different carriers like ping pong balls. Most seem to be 2 or 3 year deals and probably goes to the latest low bid that year. Something will take its place. Freight needs to move and companies are going to pick the least expensive way to get product from point a to point b. Just need to save in the lean times and enjoy the fruitful times. We are coming off some very fruitful time so I hope people saved as we are likely to have a couple down years. Stick with it and it will raise up again.

Yeah good point. I've been driving about 11 years but only 5 years for this company. The entire time I've been here, TSC has been the main freight lane for owner operators out of the Phoenix area. Freight is non-existent without it. Currently the board is depressingly empty of freight and I don't mean full of cheap freight, I mean no options at all. I have saved so I'm not in dire straights yet. Schneider offers zero east west options. Everything is regional so I can't go exploring to see what's out there. I'd have to dh 700 plus miles to get to the midwest. For this reason, I'm thinking of jumping to a company that offers freight going all directions. Thanks for your input.

This kind of thing happened often with JBUNT 360. Would be running a regular run and then one day gone. So, I went to a couple of places to see if they just didn't go there anymore and would see a bunch of JBHUNT DEDICATED trailers instead of the IC trailers. That's the main reason I don't do that anymore. To much switching around from Lease Operators>IC>Company Trucks then back to IC then back to Lease Operators...Etc...
