The radio is by preference.....never liked Cobra myself

The antenna is dead on.....Francis...4.5 - 5.5 ft....(no SWR tuning required)

"Tuning" the radio.....no matter what brand..... is not NECESSARY..... most want to do it because they want to talk over people....and false promises of more power are easily made and hard to confirm/disprove.

Get the expensive.....Laminated Truckers Atlas.....Harder to destroy. LEARN HOW TO USE IT!!!! Don't be one of those guys that asks everybody else how to plan their trip for them.

Get a cell phone.....no longer a luxury item. It is now a necessity!

I have 1350 minutes per month Canada AND USA for $99 a month. To me, they ARE a necessity - to call for an emergency, to keep in touch with loved ones at home, to call for help if you're stranded. But I'm a woman - I'd never be on the road without a cell in this day and age - it makes me feel safer :)

Try finding pay phones to call dispatch. Alot of them are in areas that a truck can't get.
