    When/if you go to court leave that part out. What you meant to say was to the best of your knowledge you didn't hit him or anything else.

    Question if I go to court and video shows I in fact did hit him is there any way to fight the improper lane change ticket or am I cooked?

    How far from the alleged side swipe were you when you pulled over? Did the guy go back and get the torn off headlight? Seems that would be enough evidence if the detached headlight was still on the scene.

    Pretty hard to refute video evidence. You might be able to get it knocked down.

    What has me questioning this is if the officer didn't witness this how is going to be able to testify against you in court?

    The guy sounds like he's trying to blame you for his screw up. I find it hard to believe he couldn't pull up the video footage. Honestly I wouldn't worry about it. Show up to court and fight it. Dude probably won't even show.

    Cop said from the sound of it it's my fault. If I mail in the fine I'm accepting guilt. If I show up to court I could possibly get it reduced. He gave the guy his email for him to mail the video in if he can get it. If he can't the cop says they will probably dismiss it.
