VERY sorry for you P3. This is just the kind of BS they could VERY easily be up front with.

Didn't they ask you any of these questions? I know on my phone interview with McElroy they asked me about surgeries and the like.

BTW if the medical history includes neck or back, this is pretty universal in DQ from flatbed co's.

If anyone had asked me I would have told them to avoid this very situation. Like I said though I have no restrictions at all and can do anything anyone else can do with the same amount of effort. I havn't ever had surgery of any kind. I guess the doc didnt like one of the medications I take because that is when he started acting like an ***hole. I appreciate your thoughts on this though. It just wasn't meant to be and I'm not going to loose any sleep over it. I will actually be getting to work sooner now and I need to be earning.

Sorry to hear about this Peanut, I never did catch up with you last night and I guess I probably won't tonight either. Good luck at your new orientation, all you really missed this afternoon was sales pitches from Wells Fargo and Allstate. For me orientation goes forward here at TMC. As has been said many times before, their rules are more strict than probably any employee cares for but there has to be a reason drivers like it here and I'm thinking that sticking out this phase of employment will open my eyes to the brighter side. We took some tests on the PC today, General driving knowledge, FMCSR knowledge and a math test. About 175 questions or so in all. We also filled out all the paperwork electronically and did our drug screen and DOT physical. I was amazed to see there was no actual hearing test administered, I can only assume they were guaging your hearing by conversation. I'll keep everyone posted as we move forward. Again sorry to hear about the bad luck there Peanut, and good luck.

I don't have any hearing problems. I'm not sure how that came about lol. I am not going to tell any specific medications but I take one for blood pressure (and my blood pressure was within range) and another as needed for occasional back pain. Its not anything major like a narcotic or anything. I have never injured my back either. I disclosed all the same information to my previous employer/dot doc who btw performed a much more thorough exam. I'm really just shrugging my shoulders but like I said earlier its not a big deal it just wasn't meant to be. I've been doing this for 14 years and had enough sense to know to have at least 2 other opportunities waiting just in case. One just happened to be here in Des Moines so I negotiated them paying for an extra nights stay where they are putting me up. Two days of orientation with this company and I can start making a paycheck woohoo!

I was surprised how many people were let go for medical conditions their recruiters KNEW about ahead of time, there really is no excuse for wasting people's time like that. I'm glad to hear you've got something else lined up already. Would you mind sharing where you are going or do you want to keep that quiet? Who knows, I might need to follow you there....

So they let you go cause of your medication you were taking or was it because of something else-----TMC is on the top of my list and the only major surgery was a broken leg with a stainless steel rod inserted when i was 14 yrs old...and ive had some minor issues with my wrist, but have been cleared by all docs------ Just wondering if it was the meds that they didnt like for your back

They told me it was because my back. I told them my back was not injured it just aches sometimes like anybody else's... So they told me I could go home and get something from my doc basically clearing me to work and explaining my so called condition... They would even provide me a bus ticket back to Alabama (no rental car unless you finish orientation). I took cash instead along with what was owed me for the trip (I flew in). Seems like they invented fax machines and the internet a while back but that was apparently not an option. If it was me I would simply not mention any problems I didn't have to (like blood pressure meds). I normally would not have mentioned it but since I had just taken and passed a dot physical during which I disclosed all meds I had no reason to think it would have been a problem. I should mention the previous physical was not given by a "company" doc. I hope my experience serves to help somebody. I will try to answer any other questions.

btw I ended up going with Barr Nunn Transportation. I have read a lot of different conflicting opinions about them. I have talked to a few drivers and they said they were happy. Probably just depends on the dm you get. I will start a thread under Barr Nunns page to let anyone who is interested know how that goes:biggrin_25525:

Thanks for clearing that up, so basically anything that is wrong but is cool with doctor----you should have a clearance from that doctor stating that---no problem, how was the rest of the physical, anything different than the normal DOT you get???

A post-injury physical or check-up physical from your doctor clearing you is not the same as a qualifying physical. The purposes and motives are completely different. The TMC doc is looking to head off future workman's comp and that's it. The only way they can do that is by knowing you've already had a problem. Taking meds of any sort NOW for it is going to be a huge red flag, even if it's just celebrex or mobic or even ibuprofen.
