Day 2 in the books. Today was almost entirely watching videos. Things are starting to level out but we did lose two more including my roommate. Unfortunately he had some things come up that he needed to sort in person and I really wish him the best of luck. The first group of students was broken out to start the simulators tonight, simulator will keep you in the schoolhouse until 8pm. My biggest gripe so far is no drinks in the classroom, otherwise nothing here has been difficult although in fairness we haven't gotten out of the classroom phase yet. I'll keep everyone posted. Peanut do you want me to start a separate thread for this?
Nah cplmac2. But thx for asking Sounds like a pretty good day. I do wish I had a chance to sit at the simulator for a bit. Just for the fun of it lol. I had a pretty boring day sitting around this hotel room!! I watched the inauguration and played on my netbook all day.
i just wanted to say that if my doc gave me blood pressure meds and im taken them then go to tmc and decide i wont tell them im on it cause its only temperary, i might want to rethink that cause your gonna get a drug test and i guarentee you will be sent home for lying about that, and from what i see on here there really really picky on who they hire so if you tell them your on meds i think they still might send ya home, i suggest you get in better health and go there clean if you want a shot at all
They had no problem with my blood pressure or the meds I take for it. My blood pressure is well within range as well. I was mainly talking about other possible problems/meds.. They dont blood test you so its unless you were taking some kind of narcotic they wouldn't have a clue unless you were to tell them.
The urinalysis paperwork you sign says they test for cocaine, marijuana, opiates, amphetamines and one other thing I can't remember what it was. It's a pretty narrow test.
Thought I would drop a bomb on this lol. I started orientation today with Barr Nunn. The day started with a trip to a privately owned occupational health clinic for my physical. Not a "company" doc with an agenda. I disclosed the exact same personal info and passed with flying colors. Then it was off to orientation where I was treated very well. I met the operations manager, safety director and shop manager and all were very specific about what was expected of me but all were very friendly (something not many will find at TMC). Tomorrow I have some stuff left to do at orientation then I'm done. I've already been assigned my truck and will be ready to head out tomorrow afternoon with a load headed towards the house so I can pick up some things. Almost forgot to mention I was given 2cmp over what my recruiter offered me after I had a chance to talk more in depth about my experience
Day 3 in the books. They had our group out until after 8pm tonight. This morning was logs then a test on them, then some videos and another test. A lot of people struggled with the logs test and the defensive driving test. We did simulators tonight and backing in the lot. Tomorrow is a bunch more movies and some more paperwork, then on to load securement. Lost another one today this time I think from the piss test. Peanut I'm glad to hear you've got everything rolling your way here!
I'm glad to hear you're hangin' in there cplmac2. I thing their orientation process is designed to weed out the guys who didn't know what they were getting themselves into and obviously the ones who shouldn't be there anyways like drug users etc. I don't remember if you were a student or experienced driver but I'm sure you will be exhausted by the end of this endurance test lol!! Hang in there buddy!
