Hello, friends. At 56 yrs old I am starting what will likely be my last career move. I needed the ability to be with my wife's Mom or my parents on short notice- in two distant states. I paid cash for my education at Southern Missouri Truck Driving School, and got my CDL Friday (except for the hazmat endorsement. My letter hasn't come yet from TSA).
I start orientation at Gregory Logistics out of Poplar Bluff, MO this Thursday. I chose to go with a smaller, family company for my first year, hauling only dry vans, all hook n drop. Should I decide to take the plunge, Gregory has one of the few lease programs NOT designed to ruin a driver.
After a month of alternating boredom and stress (self induced- can't help being super self-critical) I am ready to hit the road. I REALLY enjoy the actual driving, and I am a super cautious driver.
I think I'll do well.
