@notarps -- I'm glad you visited some castles!! I came to the US in 06 and have not been back in Germany since. Just plain have no money to visit my family and am caught up in my life here surviving, that's why I need to change career direction now.

hi GG...i'm from the southern part of germany(nuernberg)...good luck

I was offered a job there when I finished my tour of security work. I worked along side civilian contractors. PONDS guards. I made friends with several of them that was military and stayed after their enlistment was up. I asked my wife (who is a manager at walmart) if she wanted to transfer there. She was curious about it, but was a little nervous in making the move. Had I not had a wife and kid I might have stayed. Had I went over there earlier in life I probably would have stayed.
I also have a friend here in the states who is a police officer. His dad was once the chief of police of the same dept. He retired and moved there and has been there ever since. I am assuming he is former military and was once stationed there. I have emailed back and forth with him, but never met him when I was there. At one time I was pretty close to him ( he and his wife live in frankfort) They wanted me to come and visit, but it never worked out.
I would love to go back on a vacation. I got my drivers license while I was there and can renew it online. It may have expired by now tho. It has been a long time since I looked at it. I think it was good for 10 years tho, now that I think about it. -
Not to hijack this any further, but make me the German number 3 on this board here, originally from Wetzlar, Hessen.
kickin chicken Thanks this.
