Been driving a couple years. Had them check my paperwork at the scales a few times but never been pulled over until today. Texas DOT just outside Denton. I was kind of nervous because I had a heavy load of quarter round boards made from telephone poles that I hadn’t scaled and I had my wife and two kids riding in the sleeper with me since they were out of school and wanted to go.

The boards were bulging on the sides of the trailer maybe a couple inches on each side and I was thinking oh crap I am overwidth, maybe overweight and I don’t know the legality of a a six and thirteen year old riding in the sleeper though I did have the net up.

The DOT guy was really cool and professional. He checked all my lights, brakes, crawled around under the truck, looked at all my paperwork and said he was going back to his truck. He came back and said good job no warnings, no violations.

What was also weird is I thought they started enforcing the elog thing on the 18th? I run paper still as i can get by on the less than 8 days logged in thirty exemption. I gave him my paper logs and he never even mentioned or asked about elogs.

For what it is worth. Iowa DOT stops a truck. Conversation ensues. DOT man says to forget about elogs. They will be out of the picture by April. He said the whole system is so frigged up it is totally worthless. State computers can't communicate with all the elog crap out there.

You finally got your cherry popped!(good fellas)yippee!! I was driving in va. In the 90s and had just fired up a big fat joint when I saw the weighstation one mile sign.i know i checked my atlas for weigh stations but I must have missed it.so i rolled my windows down and threw the joint out and proceeded to the weigh station.got on the scales and got a greenlight so im thinkig that was close when about that time a hiway patrol car pulled acrossthe ramp and waved for me to follw him.he escorted me to the inspection shed and as soon as I stopped over the pit he was on my door and in my face.i just knew he could smell it and was stoned as a bat but I kept my shades on and followed his instructions. They gave me a little round sticker for a clean level five or whatever inspection.under the truck over the truck log book everything.i Put it on the bottom corner of driver side window, fired up another joint cause he killed my buzz with his bs and rode off into the sunset with my oz.of bud safely put away in the sleeper.must have belonged to one of the people who was assigned the truck before me. and never got checked in that truck again. If a guy like me,stoned as I used to stay, can stay in compliance anybody can.I also mailed my copy to my company and got a 50.00 bonus which was pretty much the norm for a lot of companies. Check your safety department and see about a bonus for it if you haven't already. I loved that sticker but never got another one.drove otr for nine years and only got inspected twice.and passed both.just keep your stuff together, weight right, take a shower butand dont look like youve been up for days and youll be fine.Keep up the good work!
