Hi everyone,
Just joined the group, after learning my last online group 'disbanded' (or so it seems: kenworthk100club.multiply.com). I've been a licensed driver for over 22 years up in Ontario (Canada), and have a variety of experience under my belt, including:
- Dry freight, Reefer, flatbed (with Moffett - no chains), some tanker (water), etc.
- Equipment ranged from 27' pups, A/B trains, 48' & 53's
About 2/3rds of my driving years were performing delivery of foodservice daily deliveries (unionized, daycab stuff), and the remaining third was OTR/longhaul, doing JIT auto parts from Montreal, to Detroit to Indianapolis and back (GM parts).
Since about 2005, I've wound down my actual driving, and shifted into hi-tech after a layoff from my much cherished B-train driver position. At the time, the government was paying for laid-off employees to return to school, which I did.
My interest in trucks and trucking has never waned; my focus has shifted to trucks as a hobby. I'm hoping to take the plunge in the coming year or so, to buy a tractor to shine and show - I love K100's and really hate to see these disappearing!
Looking forward to keeping up with the current industry, and would be more than glad to share my experiences with the next generation of up-and-coming drivers!
Safe travels,
Rich
