At a $1.60 a mile there is no way you can offer any sort of benefits you couldn't even afford to pay W2 wages. Most that do it offer no bennies and the questionable practice of 1099'ing their forced dispatch contractors. No driver with a good record and experience would even think of working on a shoestring like that. It perfectly illustrates how really that is a rate which barely breaks even and helps the company avoid the expenses of bennies for employees.

I still see a profit in it....that being said.if the average w2 driver is getting 50k with an employer contribution toward med benefits but i,m paying northof 60 on a w2 with no med benefits i would assume with thehealth care exchange i am paying more.....or offering more i think its wrong to assume an employer is paying benefits really they have abig picture number that labor costs and they subtract that number from an offered wage i,m just beingmore honest about it

I understand what your saying, you would be better off offering 50 k a year and use the other 10 to provide bwnefits

True but with the health care exchanges or even a spouse that is working i believe a driver may come out ahead with cash.....and it,s more portable if its yours but thats just my opinion

And People like us, with common sense and think about it realize that, but alot of guys see "no benefits" and it's a deal breaker. Even if they are getting more in cash.

I would rather have the cash personally

Nope. Anyone that thinks they can operate a truck on $1.00 a mile and pay the driver 60 cents a mile above that is not looking at true cost. Imagine paying for a set of 10 tires or having a $10,000 to $20,000 mechanical setback. End of the road. I could never save any profit on rates like that with myself driving my own paid for truck and living fiscally responsible relatively frugal on the homefront. We kept the lights on and didn't go hungry but the bankroll forever remained flat. When I did 10 new tires it would set me back months praying nothing major broke on the truck soon afterwards.

Josh you claim to be a LEO and driver. Then you post you cant make near $20 hr anywhere else. Red flag. From my exp. all do side work gigs that pay over that. I respectfully have doubts that you are LEO from the content and grammer in your posts.

First off I'm a auxiliary office (volunteer since I'm sure you don't know what that is) and with a full time job I don't have time for special duty (which is what is called, NOT side work) second I don't worry about grammer on here, I'm typing with swipe on My phone, and third I don't really care what you Doubt lol.
