I too made my share of mistakes when I was young I think it is called your still learning but any way I have post up with advice how to get started and you have already taken the first step you got your class A now you need to look around your area and see what is available.

Do you have Trash companies in your area? what about Logging companies,Concrete companies,Sand and Gravel Companies where you would operate a Dump Truck?

These are companies that would hire you and remember to have the right attitude that will get your foot in the door!!!

Truth you will have to deal with criticism and being treated like a Third class person until you prove your self but it is worth it just shut up and take it and do as you are told in the long run you will get the experience and get a paycheck every week and time will pass and you will better yourself but it will take time!!! it has taken me 15 years to get where I'm at now, Driving Tractor Trailer hauling chickens for Perdue,I have full Benefits and Retirement so yes it can be done!!! good Luck to you and if you need a friend I'm here!!!

Knock on doors. Don't try the online applications for big firms.

Good luck, and congrats on getting and staying straight. Only up from here!

There have been many on this forum with your situation. I kept a list of companies that hired them; those that come back on here and posted about it. I recommend you apply with these companies with online application and hope for the best. Don't phone them; give them the application to look at & they will phone you.

He didn't reveal why he did time. Guess he prefers to leave that between him and the trucking companies. He's on the right track though.

Since you haven't driven since July 2012, you may have to attend a refresher course, but that's up to the trucking companies.

Have to totally honest about it , and I think that the OP would appreciate honesty especially now. He may have a real hard time finding work in this industry, REAL hard. I don't expect him or anyone else to air their dirty laundry out on the internet , but the fact that he did go to prison is gonna close lots of doors of opportunity for him , he won't be able to be bonded , he may not be able to cross any state line or country borders, and most companies have to rely on their insurance carriers to make those type decisions. I'm glad he made the choice to straighten up , but as another poster said he may have better luck in another field , like the fellow that learned to weld. Good Luck to you sean44, I'm not judging you, just laying it out in a real world fashion.
