Believe me, I know It is not a me problem, this is not the easiest job I have ever done, but by no means the hardest (imo, not trying to offend anyone, caise you all do work pretty hard) and yes I understand where some of y'all are coming from, those saying I need to man up, I'll see you all when I get my cdl, I didn't come on here asking if you thought this was for me, I came on here looking for help in a particular situation, the rest of you, I appreciate the help, I think at this point it's just my personality and my trainers personalities clash too much, I'm just going to try to make the rest of it
all of you wondering about the drinking thing, I determined he was just tired as hell

I am, I checked the route info when he was out of the truck, and I'm just goin to try to do my best to be tolerant until I get my cdl and on to the TNT phase
losttrucker Thanks this. -
You don't need to check the route while he is out of the truck, check while he is in it, shouldn't make a difference. Now As I am a CDL instructor let me tell you something that not everyone on here is going to agree with and probably not you also. He and you are there so you can learn to drive the truck, not for route navaigation, securement, routing, learning to use the QC etc. You are simply there to learn to drive the truck right now. The other stuff comes in TNT, granted you may want to learn it now, but it is his progative whether he teaches you or not.
As far as talking on the phone while you are driving, granted he should not do it all the time, but you sit over there in the seat with nothing to do and see how long you last. LOL. As far as bringing a woman into the truck, that is a big NO NO in my book and he should be professional enough not to pull that crap, obviously he is not.
Now you can complain to Prime, and then you will have to prove it as it will be his word against yours, and you can guess who will win that, or you can just suck it up and deal with it for another 2 weeks.
As far as drinking on the truck HUGE NO NO and if you think it is happening then you had better be able to prove it.
Now all that said, have you sat down and had a heart to heart with the guy??
Now for all you other folks that think the Instructor is making a huge amount of money off the trainee, LOL, it does not happen at this phase, once the trainee is in TNT phase then he will be basically teaming and then the trainer will be making money off him.
I actually lose money when ever I have a Student on my truck, not much but some, I/we don't run any harder or any more hours. I also lose hours/time when I go to pick the student up, normally a day or 2, while we work on shifting and backing and then have to wait to get a load. Then when the student is brought back in to upgrade and get his CDL we spend at least a day on the shifting pad practicing. Then 1 day while the student tests and then if the student passes I get a laod the next day. So as you can see we lose 3 days of driving time/miles, and some folks lose alot more time.
Plus we also have to put up with having a student in the truck along with the stress that goes along with that LOL.
Now when you get done with this and get your CDL, make sure you tell your FM that you want a different trainer through the TNT phase.
Hope this helps youdogchimp Thanks this. -
I disagree, the so-called instructor, according to said company is suppose teach the student how to.. qualcomm, routes,(planning) etc..
-
Again, there are 2 phases of instruction, the 1st is the getting of the CDL, the second is the teaching of all the company specific stuff, routes, QC etc. They even give us a training check list for each phase that outlines the minimum that is needed/expected.

From what we were told at orientation, students are supposed to at least do their own elogs
-
Haha again, thanks everyone, especially highway, your advice and support has helped me a lot, and eased my mind quite a bit

That is correct. I do not allow them to submit them for approval until I check them over. With the student sitting right there. I have the student make any changes or if I am doing it, I fully explain.
i try to always have them do it while I walk them thru it and explain. Sometimes if time is tight, and its very rare, ill do the changes myself but always showing the student what I am doing.
then the student can hit the approval button. His logs should be updated before he drives anyway so that's a good time to do it and get them in the habit.jomar68 and mdmedicgod Thank this.
