A long at Craigslist jobs then transport is a good way to see what wages look like.

my strong recommendation is to go with MBI to star , get valuable experience then decide whether to go elsewhere

Hauling mud is very easy! There will always be drilling mud to haul as long as they keep drilling

So mike, I'm on my way up. I'm done making decisions and now DOING decisions. I've had CDL just over a year and I bought my T800 a few weeks before getting it. I've worked all over nasty roads, tight spots, etc. I've hauled equipment, water, molasses, dirt, wall, exempt commodities on flatbeds, step decks, tankers, lowboys, dumb trailers and even dump trucks themselves. Have had tank, hazmat, and dbls/trpls endorsements since day I've gotten CDL. Now Sir, I want to go straight into CRUDE, not water, sand, nothin. CRUDE. That's where I've found the most buck. What are the chances of getting hired to haul crude even though I've never hauled it?

It's going to be a question of opportunity. You will need to find someone desperate for a driver.

I've run into several. OK is hot right now. Worst thing is crude ain't just driving. You will need to learn how to work oil and that's usually the hang up. Most people just can't grasp the math behind it.

You will need to find a company willing to train you on buying crude. It is very simple math, but the procedures are important. It amazes me the number of people that can't grasp the math, which is a simple conversion.

Any ideas on who's door I should knock on? I've heard nabors is one I believe. And math is fine with me. What's the formula used to convert and what are they converting? If anyone knows I'd appreciate it. Thanks

the formula varies, depending on the size of the tank battery you are loading at. Most of my loads are from 20' 400 barrel tanks, so 1.67 barrels to the inch. you will meassure how much oil is in the tank, before you load, what gravity the oil is, what temperature the oil is, how much brine, sand, and water (BSW) is in the oil, and how much oil is in the tank when you are done loading... then it is convert the feet and inch measurement into barrels...

Well, I have been keeping busy. As for me, the money is certainly here, I just have to bust my hump to get it......well, actually running side dumps is pretty easy. What I should say is that I have to put in a lot of hours, but that is ok. So, bottom line.....come on in, the water is fine!

Vegasman and OPUS 7 Thank this.

I thought the cash for ND would be better because of the nice winters? I drive up to Greeley,CO a lot from Denver and see a bunch of oil related rigs in yards (on 85) I wonder if I can make the same amount of $ up by Greeley. Everything I read makes it sounds like the best money is in oil tankers.
