Quick Introduction.
My name is Jesse. I am retired Army of 23 years. Started in the Infantry, but spent most my career in Transportation and Logistics. My wife Andre, (married for 23 years), is soon to be out of the home health care business and we are considering going to truckdriving school and driving team. Our hobbies include, bicycling, fishing, outdoors stuff, anything with adventure, traveling, and meeting new people. Our children are grown and we have two adorable grandsons. Anyway we are looking forward to the new adventure of driving long haul.
Just saying Hi.

Are you planning to attend a private CDL school or trucking company CDL school? Veterans benefits will pay for your school and some trucking companies will reimburse you for your wifes tuition. There's some good husband/wife team outfits that hire new CDL drivers. Watkins & Shepard is one and they reimburse CDL school tuition.
WSE Transportation has a terminal in Boise and hires new CDL graduates. It's a refrigerated outfit; you might like Watkins & Shepard more, but that's personal choice.
Both companies I mentioned have pretty good websites.Last edited: Jan 26, 2014
negativecold13 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info. We were thinking about Sage out of Caldwell.

Sage is a good CDL school.
You can start the application process for trucking companies as soon as you start school.
Majority drivers don't recommend CR England at all as a company to drive for.
Best wishes. -

have you thought about US Xpress?
negativecold13 Thanks this. -
US express is one of the companies on my list to check out. But I will be looking at everything from pay, size of truck sleeper, miles the company can get us,deadhead miles, company policies, company reviews, don't nessecarily need the medical, looking to be out 5,6 7 weeks at a time, so there is a lot to consider when looking at companies, and hopefully will be able to avoid the carriers that you hear of most of the time. And I am for sure there are a ton of things I haven't even thought of, yet.
