Well it's day three on week two. Done alot of yard backing. I've gotten pretty good at the strait backing and am ok with offset parking, still need work on it though. Think I'm going on the road today to work on my shifting again. So far I've gotten three prehires and Werner seems like the nicest of the group, so who knows. I'm just releived to have a "job" kinda set up before I graduate. I was horrified I would have a license and nothing to do with it.
Well I'm off, got to hit rolecall and hopefully get more road training.

Week two is down. I've gotten prehires from 4 companies and am very excited about that. I've gotten my left and right offset backing pretty good and my strait back is a breeze, still working on not grinding gears as I hit the road. So far I'm very pleased about my decision to not only come to this school but to become a driver as well. Hopefully I can make a lot of headway in week 3 so that when the end of week 4 rolls around I'll be able to pass my license exam no problem.

I'm on day two of week three now. Not much to report at the moment. Finally got to take the truck out on the highway, that was alot of fun. Working of my parallel and 90 degree backing as well. I've got my offset and strait backing down pretty good. All the instructors are still very helpful and nice enough. Sorry I don't have really anything usefull to say, but what can you say about the se thing day after day of the same routine.

I live in MO and was thinking about driving OTR. What is the tuition for the school you're going to?
Good Luck. -
If you pay for it cash it's around $4500. If you get a loan through the school it's $6500 plus loan interest. Your best bet is either cash or a loan from a bank. I had to get a loan from the school. On the plus side 9 or of 10 companies that hire out of this school offer tuition reembursement. In my situation I'm going to end up paying like $13 dollars a month for my loan because of the reembursement. Let me know if there's anything else I can answer for ya.

you mentioned that one of the students left because of a credit problem. I am planning on going to Roadmaster in Tampa, Fl, and I have pretty bad credit. I might be getting WIA grant though, because I'm in the unemployment program right now. Is there a requirement for your credit rating at Roadmaster? Why didn't it work out for this guy?

Are Jim, Perry and Gary still there? I'd like to see some photos of the equipment you're working with. Are you enjoying the drive through the industrial park area down there? Is Lloyd still the director?

And as far as his credit screwing him out of class, he needed either a downpayment or a cosigner due to his poor credit and he couldn't come up with either so he had to go. Sucked too because he was a real good guy and I think he could have done great.

WHY PAY FOR SCHOOL AT ALL? the federal government has provided money to all state job services for job retraining! I myself am going to school for my CDL and the local job service wrote them a check covering 100% of my school tuition! I do not have to pay a dime back. They paid for my physical permits and all extras I was asked no income questions at all and there were no credit checks. I have to say, I found it much too easy to get the money! I suggest you folks call your job service and get a check for yourself. I think its far better starting a driving carer with no debt don't you? My wife and I are taking a Princess cruise vacation with the money we saved by not giving it to the trucking school!

Jim was the week one classroom instructor when I went there last year. Gary was the parallel and 90 instructor. So Lloyd isn't there at all, either, WOW. I liked Charlie, he was pretty cool. I can't remember who the other road instructor was; I want to say his name was Billy. He was the main one that took you for your test. Charlie usually only went if there were several in one day. Sounds like there have been a lot of changes in the past year. That's great. When I was there we only had the 2 volvos for the road, and 3 very old yard trucks. Does the parking lot still flood when it sprinkles?
