BUDDY, i dont want to burst your bubble, but u stated in your post that u'd be idleing because driver comfort is important to u,well friend i was recently fired from WERNER aka,"THE BIG BLUE SCREW",OR THE SMURF'S for idleing during the summer in temperatures from 85 to 110degrees to try to get decent sleep so i could drive safe the next day.IF u idle more than 35% in a 5 to 7 day period,u will b s-canned just like so many other drivers.YOUR choice is the burn alive and stew in your own juices,or freeze to death during the winter. I was with WERNER for 15 yrs and was s-canned just like that.AS for werner caring for u,"think again". thier motto,we care werner cares is a public relations b.s. campaign. I hope u wake up and see that u mean nothing to them and i wish u only the best in ur new career choice.

Sorry to hear you got canned for trying not to turn into a deep friend trucker in your cab or for not wanting to become a trucker popsicle in the winter. Until drivers ban together say the heck with USIS/DAC, Large companies, etc, etc, and become independant operators which will cut off these companies supplies of drivers then we are never going to be free of their Nazi like ways
-
If werner did that to me,I would look into a another company.I dont know where your from, but most start companys sould take you in if they are hiring in your state. There lot better companys out there than werner,if they do this to you now,I bet things will be worser went your on the road.

thanks, i was leaning toward werner, but have heard some horror stories, seems alot like luck of the draw, stay safe and keep us posted

Yes please refrain from lowering your standards by entering into the employ of these monsters of the industry.

I am very much awake and I know what you're talking about. Every time I see We Care Werner Cares I can't help but laugh. It's exactly what you said, a public relations b.s. campaign.
I'm not going back to Werner. My current crappy situation combined with all the crap I've been hearing about Werner has helped me make the right decision.
In fact, I'm not even sure the trucking industry is where I belong. I love driving a truck, I mean really love it, but there are so many other factors involved that could so easily set me off. Working for someone is probably my least favorite thing to do, and even though your "out on the open road and free", you're really not. It sucks. -
I'm not going back to Werner. Screw that. I need to do what's right for me.

I can't reply to your PMs yet because I'm not at 50 forum posts, but here's what was going to be my reply. I hope you see it
"I really want to get with Crete/Shaffer. I've spoken to a recruiter with them before and I've heard so much good about them. Something about that company just gives me good vibes, but they can't hire me until I'm 22. I'm just going to relax for a bit until I decide exactly what I want to do."

Just hang in there, theres other companys you could look into.Have you try FFE out of Dallas Tx? They are a all reefer company, they do train and take newbies from trucking school.I think there training is like 6 weeks I think.I know they are much better than werner and there some things said about them,FFE..I try to get in with them but there not hiring in florida. But what ever you do good luck.

hey everyone, I'm a student driver due to finish in a couple weeks, Werner is coming in to recruit next week, and I'm tempted, but I've seen both positive and negative comments here and elsewhere. Bear in mind I'm no kid, I worked for almost 20 years as a paramedic, and am entering this as a second career, so i really want to get the most out of training as well as my first job. one of my instructors says he worked for Werner for 16 years, and is kind of pushing the company as a good place to start. unfortunately i don't know him well enough to determine whether he's a stealth recruiter and getting kickbacks or not just a gut feeling but i learned to trust it and it's kept me alive thus far. Some of the stuff negative about Werner I've read poor safety and maintenance as well as horror stories about poor trainers who don't really teach, are dirty and stinky, or unmotivated...please help!
