Use it as a temp job until you get a local gig.

It's just a stepping stone. Stick it out for a year or 2 depending on where you wanna go from there. Do you want to retire from the next company?
There are so many local gigs from LTL to hauling gas. It really just depends on your situation and family needs. I'm a local driver but only see my family on the weekends. I drive a day cab but I work nights. Can you do that?
Trucking is a tough and rewarding career path. You'll get what you put into it. Show some pride and take care of your rig and yourself and you'll go far.
Not seeing the family sucks. But put in your time, keep your record clean and many doors will open up. I had to start out pulling a tanker hauling wastewater #### to land a union gig. Keep it up, it'll get better. Think of your family when it hurts most.SingingWolf and Kyle G. Thank this. -

The fact of the matter is your wife is going to get fat. The Kids are going to become hateful teenagers. Some day you are going to be thankful that you are on the road. Consider yourself lucky.
The good news is that you can take your Dog with you. He will always love you.austinmike, Texas_hwy_287, tscottme and 4 others Thank this. -
Get a hot girl friend it will take your mind off the fact you have abandoned your family for some mega carrier who will never love you like they did.

Man you paint a pretty picture
SnowWhiteTruck and Protein Hauler Thank this. -
You don't do anything to make it easier. I hate being gone and try not to for more than a few days at a time. Being around the kids growing up has to be your number one priority.Shock Therapy Thanks this.

I would say the best way to justify your decision is that first and fore most is that you have to do what you have to do to support your family.
