I made a post a few days back titled "SHOULD I OR SHOULDN"T I". I want to thankeveryone that replied back with your useful information. I am still wanting to leave my job of 30 years experience and pay of around 65,000 yearly to go on the road and drive trucks. I have always loved them and respect every driver out there for what they do. But for now, after reading your advise, I think I will have to stay here. At least for now. But I promise you, one day I will be sitting up there in that cab and enjoying my job and my life. That is more than I can say right now with my current situation. Again, thank you all and I read from this site every day and I have learned alot by just reading.

MT...Still plenty of time. I was 57 when I got my CDL and am still driving, mostly because I like driving and like my job. Never did the OTR thing nor slept in a truck. Mine was not a choice of keeping my job or going trucking, since TWA sold out to AA and they kicked our butts to the curb, or transfer to another location. I had 38 years with TWA and gone in a flash.
My first job was in a concrete mixer, then to end dump and now to flats hauling concrete pipe. Kind of tough in winter when you job is tied to construction, but then its too cold to be out there rolling pipe anyway.
Try finding a driver in your area that would let you "ride along" for a day or two. OOPS....maybe not, you may really catch the fever then. :yes2557:
