All the Invoices come to my address. I'm pretty sure I own the truck. Tenderfoots, Greenhorns, and others want to know how we do things. Only Limo I will ever be in has 10 wheels.

You could redact or delete whatever isn't relevant. In your case a settlement statement with the personal details cut out or blacked out would get the job done.

However, and I hate to keep singling out Boardhauler LOL, there are folks that may have been an owner in the past that are not now, yet still contribute a great deal from past experience.

With that, another screening method could be like some e-mail lists I've been on: invitation only. Someone already on the list makes a referral to an admin and "vouches" for a new member to join. No sending personal information to a stranger on the internet and the community self-polices new membership. The few bad apples that might get in and post crap can always get put back out.

I don't mind being singled out- at least you're reading what I post LOL!

Seriously- I don't think they're is much to be done about what we seem to be discussing. The people posting here are representative of the people who populate the industry. (I could write a whole essay about what that means for us, but this isn't the time....) I believe I've been a member here since 2008. I've watched a lot of people come & go on the forum since then, just like I've watched a lot of people come & go in the trucking business in my lifetime. I'll wager that virtually all the supertwuckahs that are on here bragging about how many trucks they have & how they are running for 8K a week on the load boards, averaging 10 posts a day here, won't be around a few years from now.

But there will be a whole new crop to replace them. And a few of us will still be here, shuffling along like we always have.

It's my opinion that a forum like this is really a neighborhood. I grew up so far out in the country that we didn't have any neighbors to have a neighborhood with, but I've watched the block where I have my rentals change since 1999. People come & go, kids grow up, things change. We had a golden era about 10 years ago with a whole passel of young kids about the same age. Everybody was friends, the kids all played together & mostly got along. Then I rented to one welfare queen with a couple of felons-in-training for pre-teenage sons. Everything changed. This forum is like that too, its personality will change depending on the users. It's not about getting rid of the bozo's it's about out-waiting them.

Yeah, but they're the 10 most (self) important people on here with the most (self) important opinions. Us peons that are leased should pay proper homage and respect to them for sharing their infinite wisdom with those as unimportant as us.

And that tells me you would be successful even if you were a leased out peon like me instead of a big time operator like you are. It should make you feel all warm, fuzzy & secure knowing that if all your direct accounts dried up you could go to work for somebody like Mercer & stll make it.

(Can you tell I'm in a totally smarta**ed mood tonight?)

Don't worry there are always people willing to hold others hands, it's easier that way for some!

If it comes down to providing personal information, then I guess I will no longer contribute, which is unfortunate because the Ask An Owner Operator forum is the one I frequent the most. And lets be honest, in this day and age of computers, anything is easily counterfeited.

This is the biggest problem I have noticed as well, one of the biggest offenders has been banned, hopefully that will send a clear message to the rest that think there is only one overly complicated way of doing things, its the trucking business, not rocket science.

By the way, this has also spread to other parts of the forums.

I got an idea for the admins,...Add a 'DISLIKE' button like the thanks button with a running count of 'Disliked posts' for each user. The more dislikes someone has, the fewer times a day they can post within 24 hours. Thanks score would offset dislikes score.

I think this would seriously cut down on the blabber blabber naay-sayers (griefers).

Maybe vBulliten will make a plugin for it.

In a really crappy mood today and that's the only reason I am even going to bother to answer this post!

To do what you want to do you would need three sub Forums 1/ O/O with own Authority 2/ O/O Leased to a Carrier and 3/ Fleece Ops.

Do they all have passwords so that you being the King can only post in the O/O with Authority or do you expect to be able to post in the lowly Leased onto a carrier forum as well?

Because IMHO if one is a private forum where the peons can't post then the sub forums should be private as well!
