Ok I have heard jokes about flatbeds with a Reefer units, then several months ago I saw 2 west bound on I 20 coming out of Augusta Ga. Yes you seen it right Reefers on a Flatbed. Why would you have a Reefer on a flatbed?
Just wondering - reefer on a flatbed?

Moving them from dealer to another, perhaps someone junked out 2 trailers and sold the units off of them, new units coming from factory, someone bought them to build a cooler, exporting to foreign country just off the top of my head.

These were mounted on a headboard, with Fuel tanks mounted under the trailer as they are on a Reefer trailer

Got scrapped out for the aluminum and headed for the junkyard I guess. I hope the floors don't cave in.

Ok let me try to describe these trailer better. Not scrap trailers looked new 3 axles with the covered wagon look but tarps was pull up to the noise so they were running empty at the time.
They were painted black also. If my memory serves me right they were pulled by a Black KW or Western Stars -
Hmmmmm, never seen that before. I do know there a few companies that have portable cooling systems mounted on trailers that are used to provide temporary cooling to building when the building's AC unit goes down. They use canvas duct work to blow cool air in a window, and get return air out another. There are also portable cooling systems on flat beds that hook up to the back of a van trailer loaded with produce that needs to be cooled a little. Bulk potatoes especially. Usually both of these types of machines have a much larger cooling capacity than a reefer unit. Not real sure what you saw. Perhaps a training module for mechanics, or a display for sales ?
coastie Thanks this. -
I'd guess refrigerated produce. A refer trailer with side access.

You described a European "Conestoga" style reefer trailer.

True I had a friend (retired O/O) did say maybe they hauled plants.
