K&B Transportation: I Should Have Known Better

A verbal agreement carries the same weight as a written one. It's easier to prove a written one. They said this in front of hundreds if not thousands of drivers. It's pretty easy to prove. I've seen no evidence it isn't their intention to route you through home so you can unload if you quit. If it's actually your policy why would you lie about it to a court? To get out of a relatively trivial expense? It would be far easier to just quit saying that.

 

I don't know what they say to new hires in orientation, if this is covered or not. But if the OP's dispatcher said "yeah, we'll route you home", and then denies that he said that, what do you have to stand on? He said/he said?

 

For orientation KB flies you to Omaha then a shuttle van picks you up and drives you to Sioux City but if quitting upon a 2 week notice I think KB buys the driver a bus ticket.I had to laugh when lilbuddy say KB can be billed for expenses if they don't route you home to clean the truck out.I'd like to see him try lol.

 

Who suggested that? I recommended you unload your truck before giving notice. Failing that request home time using the macro provided. Allow the lead time required for home time requests for both that home time and between coming off home time and your last day. They didn't tell the OP that, they told him it wasn't possible. Why might they say that? Insufficient lead time.

My post was for the benefit of current and future drivers. If you want routed through home do the above. That isn't a guarantee you will be, but it's your best chance of it happening.

 

You suggested that. Something about a legal responsibility to route you home. Ah, yes, here it is.....

And I'm saying they have NO legal responsibility, to get you and /or your personal items home. Moral responsibility? Perhaps, but we are talking about K&B here....

 

They do have a legal responsibility due to stating that in orientation. Are you seriously trying to argue they can walk into court say, sure, we said that, but we didn't put in writing and win? I don't understand how anyone that has had any dealings with our legal system could walk away believing things they said but did not put in writing doesn't matter. You gotta wonder why they say what you say can and will be used against you rather than just what you write.

 

No driver will take KB to court over he said she said they need solid proof and who says KB would admit they said it they're not that stupid.I drove for KB for two years and the orientation I attended didn't say anything about a legal obligation to route drivers home.

 

I'll go one further. Not one company (and I've worked for a bunch) has ever stated that they will route drivers home to clean the truck out, nor have any of them said that they'd pay for a bus/plane ticket once the truck is dropped of a terminal or drop yard.

It can be assumed that they would, but none have ever stated it, either verbally or in writing.

 

Kb may be the biggest scumbags in soiuxland but nobody is going to route you home to clean out the truck ..get real ! Lol

 

No doubt and if companies did say that do you realize how many drivers would take advantage of that.Its best to clean trk out while on hometime and only take the necessities when you go back out then give them your notice.
